I guess the few of us who were objective about his body language at the game vs. San Marcos are right after all, eh know it alls? I get the feeling the young man played us all along, they had to make this out to look legit to avoid UCLA and the Compton Magic from looking under handed when dealing with the U of A. I don't think Leaf was ever coming to SDSU. I for one hope they don't let this kid near the JAM center when he is home on leave from playing in Europe. SDSU was played, pure and simple. F UCLA, Oregon and the Pac 12. It happens with a lot of local recruits, man. With all the talent out of Vegas recently we've had plenty of 5 stars hang around the program facilities and at every home game, but choose elsewhere. Ray Smith of AZ Chase Jeter of Duke (Dad a former Rebel on the Championship team that hated Duke) Shabazz Muhammad to UCLA Plenty of others From an outside perspective, I didn't think Leaf was a fit for you guys anyway. It almost seems as if he quit on AZ because Miller cut him on the National team. SDSU is all about toughness and grit. Question for some... Do you think Fisher played a role in his decision? When he got his 3-year extension I always thought he might only do 2 years. This being his last. Some Aztec opinions? Anyways I'm good for about 2 posts here a year. Good luck this year, MWC should be a little better this year and I expect at least 3 make the tournament with decent seeds. all hating aside, TJ Leaf, wasnt going to be tough enough to start at SDSU. His release is too slow, he is athletic, but not quick enough in the lane with his Euro Step. He is going to get stripped! His best attributes are his size (negated at the D1 level) and his soft touch in the paint, and passing. Ive never seen TJ Leaf have great success against guys his own size. He is always on a mismatch. He'll have to play Small Forward at the next level, and i dont think he is quick enough laterally to defend that position. this is why they have him at PF. from all accounts he is a hard worker. blame it on genetics...but he is not an elite player at the college level.

Despite our thoughts on this kid though...the reality is that we need a big to solidify some things on the roster for the next couple of years. With all the other talent we have, and an open space for lots of playing time, with a little success this year, we should be in position to land a solid grad transfer big before next season. Hopefully another step up from Garrett Green.

OK......On we go Aztec Nation! Odds were not the greatest to land TJ, so good luck to him at UCLA and hopefully the Association in a few years. I'm sure the doomsdayers will be out in force saying we had a crap recruiting year for 2016 with which I will disagree. Nolan Narain #68 by 247, Jalen McDaniels #83 by Rivals, Max Hoetzel 3***, Ben Perez-Walk On who might have a good stroke, and Montaque Gill-Caesar #41 by ESPN out of high school. These players have talent for sure. I do think the investigation leak hurt us to some degree, maybe even more than I think. So with actual high schoolers it's Narain#68 and McDaniels#83 and the 2 transfers Tekki #41 and Hoetzel 3*** and then walkon shooter Ben Perez, is NOT a POOR recruiting year IMO. I think it is a pretty good group of players. Hope this investigation B/S is put to rest quickly so as not to effect the 2017 recruiting efforts. UCLA, USC and other MBB programs are on the upswing and SDSU will be in the mix for those same players. I think our coaches recruiting results have been excellent the last several years. FIRED UP AND READY TO GO! LET'S GO AZTECS!

Many of you make me shake my damn head. Get a life. Stop bashing an 18 year old kid. Focus on the 2015/2016 season that is upon us.

Would have been stoked.....shocked, actually, if Leaf would have committed to us (given that the word among those who get paid to follow college hoops was pretty much unanimous that he was going to be a Bruin), but I've already let it go. We've got a good program, just got to see what happens with the NCAA thing and hopefully we'll be ready to move on. The program is in very good shape right now.

There was little need for anyone to comment about his body language was really the point of all of us know it alls. The bottom line is the kid picked UCLA over SDSU. It happens all the time. It has to do with the fact that kids feel UCLA is a better school to go to. It will continue to happen. I am not sure why everyone is upset - it was to be expected. As for the sort of red tie people are concerned about... didn't he have a sort of green shirt on too? I wonder if the folks at Oregon are all up in arms about that...
