This was bound to happen and is no surprise. Too bad, since there were alternatives that could have been used to help the very poor get health care at far less cost and without disrupting most of the current health care system. In this article I recommend especially the explanation of the difference between real insurance and ObamaCare. www.nationalreview.com/article/426550/obamacare-failuresAzWm

Talked to a friend at our Men's Club yesterday and found some things out that I did not know about ObamaKare. He is a Marine Corps Veteran not retired well above Medicare age. He has a service connected disability. He and his wife had been using FEHB based on his former Federal Civil Service career after getting out of the Marines. He says his insurance premiums are about to go up by a factor of three to $600 a month. I asked why he did not just go sign up for Medicare now. His reply was that it would be too expensive since they had not signed up when first eligible. www.medicare.gov/your-medicare-costs/part-b-costs/penalty/part-b-late-enrollment-penalty.htmlNow he is saying that he will try to go to the VA for his health care. Not a good option if the horror stories about the VA are anywhere near accurate. Now that leaves his wife up in the air about what to do. This is just another example of Obama Kare not being well thought out. If we were not lucky in making our decisions about this kind of thing we often fall victim to government SNAFUs like Obama Kare.

How is his failure to sign up for medicare the fault of ObamaCare? Sounds like he just blew it. ALL private insurance plans now require you to sign up for medicare when you turn 65.

How is his failure to sign up for medicare the fault of ObamaCare? Sounds like he just blew it. ALL private insurance plans now require you to sign up for medicare when you turn 65. First, I understated his new premium. It is $686 rather than just $600. Not going on Medicare seemed to make sense when (according to him) his FEHB coverage combined with Medicare would have been more expensive then just FEHB alone. Seems to me that he should have signed up at 65 like we all did. The now in hind sight it was a mistake. He will most likely come out alright through the VA if the care is adequate but his wife is the problem. Where will they get coverage for her and at what cost? Why do I blame ObamaKare? It is because the promise that premiums under ObamaKare would come down and we could keep our current coverage. That turned into a big fat lie from Obama. The only people who really make out are the poor who are now being paid for by the rest of us through subsidies.
