Very true. 99 passes without an INT. Think our QB looked pretty good tonight. Amazing what happens when you have time and your WRs get some separation and even more importantly amazing what happens when you don't have to mass protect. This thread looks pretty silly now (always was though from OP). Think we've shown we are OK at QB the last few games, and any offense works when you execute. Do wish Chapman got a series or two. I will say we are ok at QB when we get 300 yards passing. How is it possible that everything you type on this site is incorrect?Possible its in your name SDCOUG.SINCE WHEN ARE BYU FANS ON HERE? First off, NOT a BYU fan. Never have been, and given I have SDSU season tickets in 3 sports why would it even matter? You don't think I'm a fan of SDSU or support the program?
Second, you have absolutely no clue if you think 300 yards is the right barometer for this team! Me being incorrect? Coming from YOU that's absolutely hilarious. You being the guy who wouldn't recruit Munson, Kazee & many others, and who thinks you need a top tier QB to effectively run the spread. That's really funny so thanks for the laugh.
I'll take a QB who is EFFICIENT over those who just get yards. If you want an example look at Conner Holiday who threw for 734 yards in a LOSS last year - yards are meaningless. It's avoiding TO's & getting the TEAM into the end zone that matters. Smith's QBR the last 2 weeks would put him among the top 40 in the country, including 25th in the country this past week. I'll take that ANY game. We're a running team - passing YARDS mean nothing. QBR, # of INT's, Completion % & Yards/Attempt are the only relevant stats.

No offense can be strictly one dimensional . Yes QB needs to be more accurate then able to the throw long ball . We should noted as a good offensive team not just a good running or just throwing team . Fast paced with at least some sizzle . Keep them off balance. Believe Smith has hit some early passes that sure help open up the offense with OL taking charge . Win the line and so goes the game . Smith with time can be effective . But when we play decent things we are going to need a quality QB , Smith has been that lately . Gut check this week against decent USU .

We were 74%/26% on Saturday - kinda think that turned out pretty well. SJSU was more "balanced" - how did that work out for them? Leach's teams at Texas Tech were 70/30 & went to a bowl every year.
As long as you have the threat of each and you execute well, balance can go out the window.
Don't disagree overall though. I'd love to see 60/40 either way as the norm, but if we ran 70 straight running plays & averaged 5 yards a carry doing so and got into the end zone enough to win the game that'd be good enough for me. I'll take a repeat of the last 3 weeks ANY time.
We saw what kind of an impact Greene has on this team on Saturday. Hopefully that continues moving forward. Can you imagine how good we'd be if our starting center hadn't been an idiot?

The screen name had me confused it looks like born in SD and is a BYU fan or went to the school.Second I said around 300 yards so 250 is in the ballpark and I would take it.(ps.)This will help get QB and WR recruits which we desperately need.Third I never said zero two stars per year I said three or 4.I would evalute the best two stars and find the ones that were not graded correctly or whatever the case may be.Not any two star that will commit here such as this years recruiting class so far.Last I counted we had nine and maybe 3 of those are players that can play and the rest probably are going to be on the bench most of the career.Lakalaka was the one diamond in the rough this year(That is one two star from last years class that is playing a little bit)If you notice every player that starts or plays on the team is a three star Except Munson and with Fely injured Lakalaka.

2016 two stars I believe will be good.Tim Wilson 6-4 WR recruited by Iowa and four or five other schools besides us,from Plano Texas,is rated 5.4 .1 more and he is a three star.Has good speed and hands and athletic ability. Kyree Woods DB 5.4 rating lots of offers good speed and athletic.Lucas Johnson QB...Johnson can run the ball very well he is fast and agile and I believe he will be moved to WR if his catching ability is good enough for D1.We have six others that would probably be better off playing in JC for a year or two to get more work or at least greyshirting.Coaching needs to be banging on three and four star doors until February 5th and we will have 19 players in this recruiting class that can play.

Right....
Yea, 2 stars don't play significant time unless they are Kam Kelly, Slater, Noble, Wells, Poole, Kazee, Price, Greene, Craighead, Sanchez, and oh yea, Barrett. I'd venture to say they all get a lot of PT & have paid off as terrific recruits.
Again, coaches don't look at their star ratings & say that's who we're going after & that's who we're not going after. They don't (& can't) focus on those who are 3 or 4 star ratings, since when they start recruiting them most haven't even been rated. They go after the best talent, PERIOD, and then focus on those who they see as a fit with this program and this team. Star value carries no weight.
Many times their perceptions of the players will be alignment with the services; often they will not.
Last I looked we had a very strong recruiting class last year, among the best among all G5's. Several of our current recruits will most likely be reevaluated, and even if they don't, I like I track record.

I am saying anyone that plays on this team was a three star Except for Munson and Lakalaka.Laka is playing because Fely is injured. All those players you are naming are three star and some are not on this years team.Noble is filling in for the center we kicked off the team who was three star. There is a trend here basically everyone is three star or better.

All those guys I mentioned were rated 2 stars and all play often (source: 24/7 Sports and most as well via ESPN). Fely was actually a 3-star per 24/7, which shows how services differ & simply are less credible than the coaches.
All SHOULD be 3+ stars, but that's the point - the coaches don't reference the Rivals, 24/7's, ESPN's because they have a better idea as to which players will pan out in their system, such as the Kazee's, Barrett's, Sanchez's, Poole's, Price's, Kelly's & Slater's of the world.
Every (current) 2-star recruit we have committed for 2016 could easily be the next Kazee, Barrett, Sanchez, etc., and given our track record, I'll give them the benefit of the doubt.
We had a terrific class last year. Would expect more of the same this year when all is said & done, especially if we continue to roll & get into the conference championship game.

I only use rivals you will find they are the best. Rivals sucks P5 balls. When a 2* commits to a P5, they instantly become 3*. 24/7 does good evaluations and Scout isn't bad. Don't blindly follow just Rivals becuase they leave a lot to be desired.

Agree with Burgundy. Rivals is definitely the worst of the 4, especially on the West coast. Scout & 247 are significantly better, and the factors they use to rate recruits is more effective. Rivals puts too much weight on camps and not enough on actual game film.
The Syracuse article did a good job of summarizing each, but I've always like Scout on the West coast & ESPN on the East, and then 24/7 from a reporting perspective. Rivals trails in virtually every category.

Camps are crucial all the big schools use them. You can not determine everything from film. When recruiting a player you want to use everything such as the NFL does. You don't want to take any chances right? And they have the film on rivals and everything else. Its all a fan or a coach needs even gpa.I personally do not like the other sites,You can use what you want and so can Burgundy.
