I just thought I would wrap up the suggestions about the PSU trip in a summary thread since my comments were spread out. I'll do it by bullet points with no real structure:
1) Weather - gameday looks good... overcast with a high of 70. May need a light jacket for the second half, but rain is not in the forcast.
2) Stadium rules/suggestions - Don't bring purses or bags. They say women can have wristlets, but I wouldn't take the chance. Seat cushions are fine as long as they do not have backs. Blankets are also okay, but I don't think they will be needed. No drinks are allowed, even if un-opened. If a gate line looks long, just keep going around the stadium until you find a shorter one. I don't think there will be a problem. I would go into the stadium 30-45 mins prior to kickoff so that you can see the pre-game stuff with the band... it's a good time. During the game, bathroom and concession lines are long and terrible. The best time to go is in the middle of a quarter. Stinks, but you can literally save 20-30 minutes by doing it that way. The food at the stands is what you would find at a high school game... lower your expectations. Also, seat width allocation is probably the smallest you will ever have at a stadium (unless you go to a Michigan game). Look around to see if there is an open spot in the stands for more comfort. Give it a quarter and then move if you are uncomfortable. Wifi/cell service sucks in the stadium. If you are meeting someone, meet up before going into the stadium because there is a good chance you won't get cell service to coordinate anything once you are inside. And once you are inside the stadium, you cannot leave and re-enter.
3) Tailgating - Canopies are permitted... they allow about 7 feet from the end of your car for your tailgate gear. Propane only (no charcoal). No kegs, buy cases instead. No drinking is permitted during the game. Don't be afraid to talk to PSU fans... you will likely get free food and booze if you do.
4) Bars/Restaurants:
Here are the places I recommend downtown for bars and restaurants:
-Rathskeller (alumni fav right here)
-Saloon (get the Monkey Boy. Thank me later)
-Phyrst (Irish bar, lots of fun)
-Darkhorse (small but good. Get a Tanto's Demise)
-Lion's Den (sports bar)
-Zeno's (huge beer selection)
-Kildare's (a small chain Irish bar, but usually a fun spot)
-Bill Pickles (sports bar/restaurant) -The Allen Street Grill (more upscale dining) -Cozy Thai (thai food) -Spats (New Orleans style food... excellent)
I would suggest going to the bars after the game and/or tonight (Friday).
Here are the places I would go to eat and drink that are not downtown:
-Otto's -Happy Valley Brewing Company -Faccia Luna (the original on Atherton Street, not FL2 which is on College Ave) -Champs -Letterman's -Mario's (Italian Food)
Again, let me know if you have any more questions. I hope that those people coming have a great time.

I'm staying at Ramada Inn in State College on Saturday night, any particular restaurants/bars near Ramada Inn you recommend? Right down Atherton Street (like a 1/4 mile away) is Faccia Luna, so that is probably your best best if you want somewhere close. It has Italian food and high end pizzas (it's better than it sounds). Here is a map as the place doesn't look like much from the outside (and shares a parking lot with a motel). As for bars, there really is not much in that immediate area, so I would probably go downtown if I were you (it's like a mile away... a 20-25 minute walk or a short taxi ride).

Sweet recap! I wish I were going. Any advice for watching on TV? Matt Millen (infamous for his days as the Detroit Lions GM) is a PSU alum and is doing the broadcast for BTN. While he tries to be objective, you will see him get carried away when talking about the Lions several times on Saturday. I apologize in advance. As for the actual game, watch for jet sweeps, multiple WR screens, poor passes from Hackenberg and some amazing runs from Barkley. Also, PSU is 3rd in the nation in sacks so watch for a very active front 7. Our DL is one of the best in college football. Oh, and you will love our kicker. He looks like a fatter, yet shorter version of Sabatian Janikowski.

I just wanted to add, if you would like to get up close to the SDSU players, you can hang out by their locker room door and wait for them to come on the field. As I said before, Beaver Stadium is like an oversized high school stadium. In this case, there is not a tunnel/hallway from the visiting locker room to the field. What they do is rope off a path for the players as they have to walk right through the crowd to get on the field. Pedestrian traffic stops for a few minutes when it happens. The visiting locker room is on the west side (press box side) of the stadium close to the north endzone (the endzone that the visitors sit in).

Ah, I should have told you that everything is half price from 7-9. If you like beer flavore water, Coors Light drafts are just a buck until midnight. Personally, I wouldn't touch them even for that price.

Aztec great Haven Moses was the PR director for Coors after he retired from the Broncos! :-) Come by our tailgate tomorrow in south Red Lot. 2 rows off Curtin near the players entrance under the South Scoreboard for some Coors light, Virginia moonshine (shhhhh) and real food!

Is it just me, or is this state in no hurry at all? I was driving on divided highways and interstates for two hours before I ever saw a speed limit over 55. Madness. It took three hours to go 150 miles in light traffic yesterday. Anyway, we are here...will check out south red lot tailgate, but will bring our own beer... Coors light... On purpose? I don't think so.
