The problem with this piece/writer is the same problem I have with many religious types (BYU fans immediately come to mind): a righteous, holier than thou attitude that their religion, deity, godliness, etc. knows what's best for the world and everyone in it. Religions/gods/deities/etc. are a very personal relationship (e.g. see John's comment above) and defined by the individual. I myself believe in a higher power, although it is not yet fully defined.
The irony is this writer quotes the bible to make his points about others losing god and the consequences, yet seemingly forgets one of the most-quoted of Jesus' teachings: something about casting stones.
