For those of us who haven't watched any video on him, can someone describe his skillset and/or weaknesses-strengths?

Strengths: Athleticism Length Shooting Finishing Shot blocking Weaknesses: "Feel" Needs to gain a lot of muscle/ which will be deterant on both ends on post If everything works out he could turn into billy white with a jump shot (but more skinny). Ziegler talks about him on perimeter. I definitely see him more as a PF, but we will see. He is raw, but has huge upside.

He kinda reminds me a little of DPII when he first transferred from St. John to the Mesa...skinny kid with great hops and a sweet stroke

THE RIDE. ISN'T. OVER. YET.
p.s. - seriously? the front page is littered with trash and THIS is what gets sent away? News on a new Aztec basketball player - a committed, huge piece for the most popular and successful SDSU program in decades that drives most of the traffic to this site - and it's not Aztec Discussion worthy? Well that's a surprise.
Which of our current recruits is now off the table?

McDaniels is an extremely physically immature four with a significant upside, but it's going to take him time. He has ideal size and length but has a long way to go physically and will very likely need to be redshirted wherever he goes. He has a respectable jumper, is a good passer, has a nice feel as a rebounder, an underrated handle and very quick feet. All the tools are there for McDaniels to become a complete player once he gains strength. www.scout.com/college/basketball/recruiting/story/1584974-jalen-mcdaniels-chooses-sdsu

Why he chose SDSU on Scout.com
"Steve Fisher and Brian Dutcher are legendary coaches. I really like the team and coaches."
McDaniels' first and only official visit was to San Diego State and his time in SoCal made a big impression on him.
"When I went on my visit I already knew they were good but I was focused on meeting the players," he said. "They were like family to me; it seemed like I knew them forever. They were all really cool." The San Diego State coaches did a good job making McDaniels feel comfortable with them.
"My cousin is Juwan Howard and he was coached by [Fisher and Dutcher]," said McDaniels. "He told me straight up, they're going to push me and be like family and going away from home, I needed coaches and players who would be like family to me.

Relationships seem to be very important . Recruits talk to current players . Former players/recruits . For those who doubt they also watch for development of players within a school . K.Leonard has been mentioned by both McDaniels and MG-C . Also good to hear Dutcher 's name as part of the coaching duo . McDaniels sees himself as a 4 , realizes he is a player that has a high ceiling and how Aztecs work with those players .
Next priority a recruit who enjoys playing the 5 . Be it Cage ,Stanback or both .

Well that's a surprise. Which of our current recruits is now off the table? Not a surprise at all.
It's definitely an either or situation with cage and stanback in my opinion.

Not too surprising he has a very good visit and then schedules an in home visit for his family and the coaches . Then says he is ready to commit .. Cage and Stanback both visited last weekend , had good visits but both also want to see other schools . What was said to the coaching staff , only they know . So do the coaches say yes to McDaniels or same thing Washington said , we are waiting for another recruit to verify and will get back to you , and he looks for another offer ? Coaches decided he was worth the scholarship .Also his uncle J.Howard referred him to come here , want to toss that out . We still need a guy or two that want to play the 5 position. Cage, Stanback or ? . To me we need the taller central defender to keep the defense going strong . Central part of Fisher scheme . Believe Stanback is the best of the group . Do not know that much about Cage , Narain , McDaniels , Max , Leaf's play as a the 5 on defense and their thoughts .

Why are you surprised? This is a story, and it's going to effect recruits.

Why are you surprised? This is a story, and it's going to effect recruits. This is the second week of recruiting with 17 of top 100 guys taking visits and the top story today on NBC Sports is a Rivals 3-star guy staying at SDSU a mid-major. Its good news and bad news, big time program under scrutiny. Next Page 6 of the NY Post.

Driving me crazy. The front page says: "Although San Diego State is being investigated for potential violations with recruitment, Jalen Mcdaniels will remain. " The article says: "And when the possibility of an NCAA investigation comes into play, ..." "Just days after it was reported that the NCAA could be looking into possible rules violations at San Diego State, ..." "Is being investigated" is a lot different than the "possibility" or "could be looking into possible..." Sensationalist smear tactics.
