Verbal Commits rates players based upon the average star level of ESPN, Scout, and Rivals. They also average that star rating for all scholarship players on each team. Below are those ratings:
Team Avg*s SDSU 3.694 UNLV 3.487 FSU 2.861 UNM 2.692 BSU 2.611 Nev 2.524 CSU 2.308 Wyo 2.256 SJSU 2.167 AFA 2.087 USU 2.071
Aztecs recruiting has really been great.

Given the handwringing and envy that shows up here every time UNLV signs someone, I'm surprised to see that SDSU's star level is higher. While it is true that the basketball program's recent success, city, coeds and JAM Center play a role in attracting top players, I believe it is Coach Fisher, his staff and the sense of "family" he offers that is most important and ultimately seals the deal.

For UNLV to catch us, they would need to gain 8 stars. .207 x 3 x 13 = 8.073

Interesting stuff, and definitely show's who's attracting the elite talent within the conference. I'd think you'd have to say UNLV & SDSU now have the best facilities overall when it comes to hoops, which pays dividends down the road.
At the same time you have to take it with a major grain of salt. Does anyone think Drmic, Webb or Duncan w/ BSU are 2-star type players? Moore or Collette at USU? The fact BSU is basically a co-favorite shows the power of a) experience vs. youth, and b) finding the hidden gems. Same with USU - they're far ahead of AF in talent, yet their ratings are lower.
Someday we may reach the 4.0 threshold, but I'll take a 3.0 who matures later than a 4 who fizzles. UNLV = living proof. Ideally, 4+ who is rising....due to great coaching.....
BTW, who's ratings do they use?

Is there a similar rating for PAC schools ? Yes, haven't clicked through but appears for ALL conferences so you can compare ACC to P12, UCLA to UA, down to Montana to Idaho.

Another thing that throws these for a loop are those who recruit JC and Euro.
Interesting stuff though.
