I saw a quote saying he didn't want to live there for 4 years. Said he couldn't see himself returning to campus in the future and wanted a change of scene to enjoy the college experience more. I am of the mind that San Diego in general is as big a reason or more of a reason then the JAM center. Not having the JAM center is a negative, having it is not a huge advantage as many other programs have similar facilities. Having beautiful weather and pretty coeds, IMO, plays a bigger role in the mind of a young man living in the wretched winters of Canada. I would suspect now that SDSU's recruiting footprint is widening considerably, many kids who want to get out of the nasty weather and crappy cities would view SDSU as an option. One thing I never understood was Arizona and how they are able to recruit so well given how horrible [unbearable heat] their weather is. I get that they are a top program, but there are other top programs an elite player could go to without sticking their head in an oven. One thing is for sure, recruiting at SDSU is entering a stage where getting a 4-star is routine and at some point, it is possible that our entire rotation will be rated 4 stars or higher. I remember how excited I was when Leonard came to SDSU as a 4 star athlete, and he was clearly underrated as he played like a 5 star during his time at SDSU. I guess the next level would be to grab a 5 star every other year, I realize we got two in Shep and Pope, but had Pope been totally healthy, I don't think he ends up at SDSU. Tuscon is really only extremely hot in the summer. It's like 70's and 80's and really nice most of the rest of the year. Phoenix on the other hand...

Yeah if there is a reason to go to U of A (beyond the obvious history, facilities, etc.), weather is a big one. It's 330 days of sunshine and when school is in session, it's really not that bad of a heat and most of the year has beautiful weather. The bigger downside is that it is Tucson and 80% of the city is a collection of strip malls (JMO having lived there for 2 years).

Tucson sits at a bit of elevation (~ 2,600 feet above see level) so that helps keep the temps moderately cooler.

I would guess you may want to add Zylan to the possible starters for 2016 . MG-"T" - C could be another guy that can play multiple positions to go along with Narain , Zylan , Kell , JH . Still would like some additional quality guys at the PF/C position be it McDaniels or Cage . think J. McDaniels is here this weekend .
With Shrigley injured , aren't Perez and U going to playing with the active black shirt team ? not scout red shirt team .
As the quality article by Zeigler states . A variety of factors help in signing MG . Right time with the opening of the Jam Center as he was visiting talking with players and very important donors( thank you to ALL Donors and work crew to get it done on time) . Narain's connection from school. Hutson 's to CIA Bounce AAU connection . Feeling this is a great place to be . Mizzu was a train wreck and he tried to play through a bad back injury. Current and former players ( his NBA favorite is K.Leonard . M Thomas was there for opening also) Wish the Cage family was there also .
San Diego , weather, city and beaches , now facilities are great but also remember most high quality athletes go to a school for its Programs , coaches.... and not the weather hot or even cold .
Also hope this could make a statement to some local recruits for 2017 to come take a very good look at SDSU going forward.

MG-C is a right-handed shooter, but his highlight reels show he's really good with his left anywhere around the basket. Even one one-handed lefty power dunks.
So Oregon plucked Keith Smith from us, and we kind of nabbed MG-C before they could lock him down. Balance restored.
The Show will be needing a large Canadian flag in 2016.

The left hand stood out to me too watching the highlight tapes. Maybe the pre-game IBTWWW can be followed by... Oh Canada...

Basketball's an indoor sport. I remember when Klay Thompson was asked about the weather in Pullman & he said it was damn cold, but luckily it's usually around 70 on the basketball court every day. And since that's where he spent much of this time...
Plus Tucson is actually pretty nice. If you're from Chicago & during your junior year you attend a game in Tucson in November, what you get is 70+ degree weather, great facilities, an extremely loud & awesome crowd, and a top ranked team. Who wouldn't be drawn to that? Add in their summer camp where all their alumni come back & basically play an NBA all-star game & that can make an impression, as do the private jets, etc.

Excited about this guy coming in. I wasn't disappointed to see Brodricks Jones bail, just didn't like the timing. I don't think he would have contributed this year. He was viewed as a project, and I would hope a scholarship to play for San Diego State and attend our university has more value. I would be very surprised if he turned out to be a better player than MG-C.

We all owe Bubba Jones a big thank you. His bolting at the last minute left us with a scholarship when we needed it the most. Hutson, UNLV, Canada, JAM good kids and good coach equal karma time on the mesa. Thank you, Bubba, we converted a project three star to a contributing four star. Traded in a pig and got a thoroughbred. Funny on how that happens.

Remember when you said we were going to stop recruiting transfers because we had arrived at a certain level of high school recruiting? Bahahaha. My statement seems a little short sighted. We will have, on occasion, late defections that leaves us some open scholarships that transfers can fill. Keith Smith and Budah left us two spots that 2015 recruits weren't available (to us) to fill We will likely have 4 openings for 2016. We will see if we get good recruits or transfers for 2017.

His game reminds me of Franklin's....good job SDSU...it's a top rank public relations school...and it shows...great timing and foresight to include dude into the grand opening...I wonder did they have his face on a locker in the dressing room...first the Sacramento pipeline...now the Canadian Connection...blue chip schools...look out!!!

Would guess as of today the base of the 2016 roster is based on quality HS recruits . even if Pope ( HS recruit) is gone. Narain , Zylan , JH , Kell . Do we add another high quality PF/C in 2016 and is he a starter rather then MG-C who knows . Top reserves are also HS recruits Allen, Shrigley , Williams . Max a transfer .
Most quality MBB programs base their roster on quality HS recruits then supplement with transfers as needed . As mentioned it also depends on timing and needs .

Nice to know we'll have a fairly veteran, matured lineup next year even without shep, sky or pope. Just need to get an interior presence. Gonna hurt to lose that rim defense of sky the most.
