Here's a very interesting article and Analysis from Sports Illustrated on Top #100 NCAA MB Players. Interesting and relateable as we've seen with Brodricks Jones and Kieth Smith (decommitment), Kevin Zabo transfer and as always; picking up top #100 player transfers over the years. The transfer rate has increased each season, to the extent that the most recent class with four college years completed, 2011, has seen 46.7% of its non-one-and-done players attend multiple colleges. Over the most recent three classes (2013, 2014, 2015), 51.5% of players attended multiple high schools. The percentage of top-100 players who decommit from their original verbal commitment to a college is 16.0% Players who made extremely early commitments had a much higher decommitment rate, as well as a high college transfer rate. The college transfer rates of multiple-high school attendees were much higher than those of single-high school attendees. Players who decommitted during the recruiting process transferred colleges at a much higher rate than single-committers. www.si.com/college-basketball/2015/07/29/top-100-high-school-recruits-transfer-behavior-study

I've always wondered what the system-wide numbers were. Also from the article: • 1/3 of top-100 recruits transfer (it goes on to cite a figure of 33.8% over the last four post-HS years studied). • Remove 1-and-dones and it climbs to 37%. • Transfer rates aren't significantly different from "normal students*." • 'Nomadism' begins with elite athletes at the HS level • Last five classes studied: 2007-2011 • n=900 *Another study conducted by the National Student Clearinghouse Center (so that's where they dump all the used, unwanted students...) found that 34.7% of 4-year students transfer(ed) somewhere as a student.

I appreciate the thanks. I think I have been thanked twice in two years on this board, criticised 100x over.

the article does show what many of us had thought . Today's MBB players start playing for a HS and right away start looking for another HS , Prep School. Private School . ( IMO major problems and AAU ) that will get them the best college offers . If not happy with their progress there then very quickly move on to the next opportunity . Many of the guys now a days have one basic thought how can I get to the NBA the quickest , it all starts with HS/AAU . One solution could be just let the guys go right from HS to the Pros . Although 1 and done guys do not transfer they only mess up recruiting. Kentucky , Duke .... just keep getting the top guys.Guys want to play or they are moving on be it HS or College. Coaches are trying to make transfers more difficult by of all things requiring grad transfer to sit a year, zinging a guy who gets his degree- . I do not know the rules about transfers . Do they require an athlete to have a certain GPA say at least 2.25 or to transfer . On last years Aztec team we had 4 transfers( JJ, AQ,DP and Chol) out of 13 on scholarship about 31% of the team .As of today For this year we have 2( Chol and Max) of the or 18 % of the team, if Narain decides to attend and it drops to 11% .
