Good decision. He was either going to be 4th string, RS or switch positions & he's definitely an athlete. So good to hear he's making the move, ala Braxton Miller.

He's a big dude. With Dakota Turner graduating soon, we'll need another big dude who can block, run and catch (like Adam Roberts).

Good hands and decent feet, has size, and can throw it on a trick play if necessary. Not to mention the kid was unselfish enough to agree to move positions. I like this move and hope Bawden does well at the position.

another option or wrinkle for the offense . Believe after spring ball the top 3 QB's were Smith- senior , Chapman freshman and JR junior . Agnew is incoming freshman , recruited by Horton. So would say smart move . New offense is supposed to be installed this summer/fall . Passing attack will be more short ones to TE's and backs , to go with running . Pro style with Spread options.

TE/HB option plays with an ex-QB?
Sounds good.

I'm surprised he wasn't switched to LBer. I would think having QB experience would help him with LB reads.

Nick Canepa isn't seemingly impressed.
@sdutcanepa @sdutleonard And now it's easy to see why they're picked to win the West.

Dakota GORDON is a FB.
And Nick Canepa is a drooling fool.
Although I'm not sure what he said was critical of SDSU either.

I know Nick, his level of sarcastic passive-aggressive disdain towards the football program of his/our alma mater is still re-peaking. Although I haven't spoken with him in a few weeks, I can "hear" the sarcastic tone in this. Perhaps I am jaded and wrong on this one but his recent opinion was that our offense was in disarray with too many disruptions.

Considering our former 2nd string QB is now 4th string (or lower) & had to switch positions to see the field.....and the fact he repeated we're picked to win the west - seems to me there's nothing negative about it. If there is, then yea, he's jaded &/or clueless.
PS. I wonder if he thinks the fact Braxton Miller had to switch positions means Ohio St is in disarray?

I'm curious what that's all about. Maybe the issues with the OL?

I'm not one to take cheap shots at the coaching staff, but how did that kid get recruited to play QB in the first place? I took about two throws to realize he would never make it at that position.

Judging a player on such a small amount of experience is not giving him the benefit of the doubt. He was thrown into a situation without much hope to succeed. He may have proved to be better with more time to prepare.

He may have proved to be better with more time to prepare. Agree 100%. You don't judge a true FR based on limited exposure. Tough situation to come in & start on the road.
He was recruited because he's an outstanding athlete & had potential at QB, but the staff hedged their bets a little by also recruiting Chapman at the same position. The fact Bawdin won the #2 job last year is commendable, but Chapman looks like he has a lot more long-term upside & probably passed Bawdin mid last year.
