I'm no expert but looking at his highlights, his pocket presence is almost non-existent. I don't know if that speaks more about him or a bad o-line though. The problem is with highlight videos is just that: they're highlights. No one wants to see videos of a QB standing in the pocket and throwing 5 yards down the field all day, even though that's what is going to tell you the most about the player. Everyone just posts videos of QBs scrambling around making a miraculous throw. I will say he's vast and very shifty, looks like he's impossible to get down. Great size for a mobile QB too: 6'3 185 according to rivals. I think he runs faster than a 4.73 40 which Scout has him at.

OC Horton recruited the 2015 QB recruit is it Agnew ? Supposed to be a fairly good QB from Texas , who could be red shirting this year and working with the new QB coach . Wonder if Lucas could be converted to another position if QB's Chapman and Agnew have the QB situation in hold . Time for some one, for once and for all, to step up and be responsible for recruiting and developing QB's . We are not going to be able to get to the next level until , we have a true quality QB or two . The QB is the key guy for most teams , especially if we hope to beat quality teams . So hope the coaches have their act together with the QB's . No excuses .

Don't know about football. He was a pretty good basketball player for Mount Carmel. Saw him played a league game in January this year.

Looks like a typical spread type QB who can easily run the ball. Very athletic.
Oldie Out

Dual threat QB's dominate college football... even if he isn't a great passer I'm fine with it if he can really move. Plus his passing can always improve

Some basic stats : 14-15 season 118 of 236 for 1456 yards , 13 TD's and 9 INT's , 92 rushes for 648 yards and 12 TD's 13-14 season 59 of 116 for 1123 yards, 7 TD's and 3 INT's , 68 rushes for 628 yards , 8 TD's 12-13 played in 5 games
Who knows what QB situation will be with the Aztecs - when Lucas gets to campus. Not exactly an area where we have shined, the most important position on the field, would be nice if we finally had a set plan in developing QB's
Who else will be here Chapman , Bawden ( sp ? ) , Agnew , ..... ? Walk ons , transfers ? If they are then some additional competition or seems athletic enough to move to WR ?

Programs that use dual threat QBs need to have quality depth, running QBs get dinged up.

Not pursued by the big name schools, the coaches must see something that makes him perfect for our system. Good thing we got him to commit quick, unless the other schools notice and toss him an offer. Oldie Out

Most important is for some one - maybe it is Horton, to take charge of the most important position on the field the QB . Select guys that fit the scheme the OC is going to use and develop them accordingly . Would prefer the OC has seen the QB in person and be responsible for their development with the new QB coach . Horton recruited the HS QB coming in this year , believe it was Agnew ? Thought Horton said we are going to run a Pro Set with numerous Spread style plays , so it is easier for the QB to make reads, get the ball in the hands of guys that can make plays , plus possibly turn short gains into big gainers. Offense has not really been installed for this year , but he will try to make sure it fits to the strengths of what the QB and OL can do well . Also important to realize that it is important to have two QB's ready , in case of an injury . So this area of recruiting is important to get it correct . I do not know , what coach recruited Lucas but hope Horton was there and agreed .

Oldie Out The fact he's pretty tall but completed just half his passes as both a junior and senior in HS and that he lettered in three sports suggests to me he could be another Daryll Richardson.

He will be a senior this year (2016 graduate). I believe that those stats are from his junior and sophomore years.

Yes stats are from his last three years, he has his senior season coming up this fall . Would guess numerous people will get the opportunity to watch him perform as a senior and report back . Will also be interesting to hear about the 2015 QB recruit Agnew , who will most likely red shirt this season at SDSU . Part of the group Horton signed from Texas . Personally do not care where a recruit is from as long as they can be a quality player for the Aztecs . Once they are in the black and red they are an Aztec from SDSU .

I echo the Jeff Horton trust we should have in these selections. Good enough for me as Horton knows where we headed and what type of qb we need. I'm sure we will be updated on his senior season . You'll recall that Rocky wants about five locals this year

Just go out and get the best recruits we can , no matter where they are from . Horton is the OC , then he should be the one selecting the QB's to go with his system , so we do not screw up the most important position on the field QB . No excuses ,recruit and develop the players especially the QB . Do appreciate that Horton is out there actually recruiting not sure Toledo or other OC 's did . He has developed a good connection in Texas and hope he expands it .

Can we please go a single QB thread where Stan DOESN'T mention that the QB is the most important player on the field? I think we all know this Stan.

Huge shot in the dark and probably way too much speculation, but a conversion to WR wouldn't be out of the question right? Great size and speed, super shifty; why not? We brought in a lot of QBs in 2014.
Anywhere he plays, I like the kid. Local guy, seems eager to commit especially so early in the process. Hopefully he can convince others to join him.
