I grew up at the Murph going to Charger/Pad games and my heart has bled in person there with all of the heartbreak (e.g. Wilbur Young jumping off-sides on 3rd-and-4 to end the 1981 AFCC game) so I will definitely shed a tear if/when the Bolts leave. That said, fu(k millionaire/billionaire owners right in the goat-@$$! Ironic that you show a Tony Gwynn PADRES photo who also have millionaire/billionaire owners. It should have read "*greedy-@$$* millionaire/billionaire owners *who could give a flying-F about our city*" - does that make it less ironic?

I only want them to stay if they pay for their own stadium. Otherwise, hit the road. Did you feel the same about the Padres and Petco Park?

I'm completely neutral regarding whether the Chargers stay or not. If I had some way to know for certain which would help the Aztecs most then I'd know which way to root. I could make persuasive arguments to support either scenario benefiting SDSU most.

I'd be as nervous as a whore in church if i were a Chargers fan at this hour in the game. I'd be shocked if they stay.

I'm an outsider so I don't have a dog in this fight. However not speaking as a fan, but from my perspective having an NFL team proves you're a major player to go along with being a large metropolitan city. I would guess that's how Cleveland, Houston and Baltimore felt when they lost their teams. If you wish to maintain that small town atmosphere, then you might as well try to dump the Padres too. Yeah, get those billionaires out of there. That'll show'em not to do business in your town. You get what you DON'T pay for so it's all good, right?

Wait, so this whole time SD's economic prosperity, compared to much of the rest of the country, was due to the Chargers presence in town? And when they go all those rich people and large companies with ties to local Universities will just up and leave?
Nope

Yeah, because LA turned into a small town when the Chargers, Rams, and Raiders left...small town for 15+ years...yep, small.

The Chargers play in a league people actually care about. Chargers > Aztecs in this town. LA Chargers probably even > Aztecs in this town.
So YES.
BTW I don't see a way to vote. Only the results.

Want whats best for The Aztecs. If the Chargers leaving results into a 50k stadium in MV with associated University expansion then I hope they are gone. I like The NFL but I really don't enjoy the experience attending the games I would rather watch on tv and I can do that if they re in LA.
If the Chargers really do want to stay and a new Pro stadium can be designed to create a good game day experience for The Aztecs as well then I hope they stay. I was the point person on The Chargers brief interaction with The City of Chula Vista. I never got the feeling they were serious although we provided them with a clear path .

There are little boxes just to the left of the "Yes" and the "No." Just click on one of them.

You need to get out more often, Bud. Economic prosperity is not confined to San Diego. It's happening in many areas of the country, even in areas that don't have an NFL team. BTW, where are all those rich people and large companies that you mentioned who could possibly show financial support to convince the Chargers from leaving? There are numerous posts by those here who don't want to support the billionaire Spanos. Are you one? Me? I could give a damn about what happens with the Chargers.

They've never had a small town feel like San Diego describes itself. They've always been way more populous than the SW corner of California. They have a hell of a lot going for them and don't need an NFL team to give them notoriety. They define the West, just as Chicago does in the mid-West and NY in the East. LA is so big the NFL wants them, not the other way around.
If the Chargers leave I doubt the NFL would care about San Diego being without a team. BTW, I'm not an LA honk.

Here's a newsflash...that big orange/yellow orb in the sky every day provides all the notoriety we need. And besides, people don't move to San Diego to be in a big City...if you all want that, move north. Places like Cleveland, Indianapolis, Green Bay, etc NEED the NFL to stay relevant. We'll be just fine if the Chargers leave. Don't get me wrong, I love going to NFL games and usually hit up one or two Chargers games a year. I just don't think we need to sell out the farm to keep them. If the City is going to sell out, better do it to a major corporation which would bring real jobs to the City...not part-time hotdog stuffers.

You're probably a microcosm of San Diego's clueless arrogance. The Chargers should never have signed a long term lease agreement for the Q and should have left long ago. With their departure both sides will get what they deserve. I'll leave it at that.

Just exactly how are those of us who would rather have minimal City funds go to parks/roads/public safety "clueless arrogance"?

Based on the number of anti-Chargers who post adnauseum on this board, I'm shocked at the # of votes that show people want the Chargers to stay. I guess most of them are silent and don't want to deal with getting hammered on here.

I would like it if they stayed, but not if we have to throw public funds at it
