Over the last three years SDSU has played 12 elimination games at the MWC Tournament and won them all. Seems like our programs thrive off pressure. Except football. Can't count how many games we've dropped on the field. Still, our basketball and baseball teams are putting up the banners.

Can't count how many games we've dropped on the field. Still, our basketball and baseball teams are putting up the banners. 40 wins in year one for Coach Martinez. Excellent. Our men's basketball program went from a perpetual punch line to one capable of competing on a major level, reaching the top 32 and sometimes the top 16 in a men's playoff field of 68 teams. Conversely, the men's football program is going absolutely no where, (show me wrong this year Rocky or have the guts to move on). If this is ultimately all San Diego has left this program better get off its ass..or just go away. But on a relevant side, there is the prospect of a program that I see no reason why won't be able to compete on the level of Fullerton, Fresno State, UCLA or USC. This won't be an issue of resources or, apparently, leadership. But for now, let's have some fun and I'll start looking at packages to Omaha. And then I'll truly look forward to next year. Men's basketball, baseball and volleyball. That would be a hell of a trifecta..

CSUF, UCLA, and UCSB are hosting regionals. Would be nice if SDSU ends up in one of those. Slight note about UCSB "hosting" if you are sent our way. The regional won't be in Santa Barbara. It's in Lake Elsinore.

Last 3 years: 3 Bowls, 3 Dances, 3 Regionals. Can any other college say they have done that? There are only four schools who have a shot: SDSU, Oklahoma St., Louisville, and Oregon Of the four we are the only one to win our conference in baseball, and as such are assured of making it, although Louisville and Oklahoma St. are top 20 teams and should get in. Oregon probably won't get an invite. That means in the past three years in the big three sports we are one of only three schools to make the tournament or a bowl in each of those years.

I am not familiar with how the baseball tourney works entirely. Do the winners of each region go to Omaha? And....do the Aztecs have a legit shot to win the Lake Elsinore region?

The 16 winners of the 4 team regionals do a 3 game series against another team and then those 8 go to Omaha.

Regionals are a double elimination format between 4 teams. The winner from there moves on to the Super Regionals (16 teams) and face another team in a best of three format. the 8 winners then move on to Omaha for another double elimination tournament. I don't see the Aztecs advancing, but stranger things have happened.
