I know this is the longest of long shots, but imagine if all three of those guys became Aztecs in 2017? Add those three to an already stacked roster and the boys could send Steve Fisher into retirement with a National Championship!

Is the sky red and black in your world? It would be nice to pull down any or all of them. The odds are 1 in 1,000,000.

Forget all them, I'd be happy as hell if we can just get Ayton. This will be the big test for Fish and the Aztecs. Can we keep the number 1 recruit in the country from leaving San Diego, the same way UNLV can keep their local recruits from leaving.

you'd think one of these days as long as we are a good team one of the locals would want to be a hometown hero and stay here, but maybe I'm just saying that as a biased SDSU fan
plus they'd get to be a big fish in a small pond

We'll need to makea deep run and get some national pub for anything to change with these dudes.

Can we keep the number 1 recruit in the country from leaving San Diego, the same way UNLV can keep their local recruits from leaving.Las Vegas had 4 of the top 18 players in 2015, and 5 of the top 29. UNLV kept 1 - 20%. In 2014 Vegas produced 3 top 40 players, and kept 1. So in the past 2 years they've produced 8 in the city, and kept 2.
In 2016, by my count among the top 60 2 are from Vegas & 1 from SD, of which UA got Leaf & Vegas kept 1 of their 2.
Duke, UA & Kansas raid Las Vegas, just like SD gets raided by the UA's, UCLA's, etc.
Having elite local talent, like Vegas produces, is rare in SD so until we see what the '17 brings it's hard to judge how well SDSU does in comparison to UNLV. Kind of need to see 10 local top 40-50 recruits before really passing judgment IMO.
The difference is Vegas produces a LOT more talent annually, thanks to their prep schools. That's a nice advantage, especially when you basically just need to build a pipeline into 2 schools. But even UNLV doesn't keep even a majority of their local recruits from leaving. Few do, unless you're a Kansas in Kansas, Kentucky in Kentucky, etc. If Vegas actually DID keep all their HS talent it'd be pretty scary - or if Bishop Gorman & Findlay Prep moved to Arizona!

Pretty sure lots of those player only went to vegas for senior year, that's a different situation.

Pretty sure lots of those player only went to vegas for senior year, that's a different situation. Among 2015 recruits, believe Zimmerman, Jeter, & Smith all played as juniors in Vegas, if not longer. Thornton was originally a 2016 recruit & just recently committed to Duke, so he was being recruited this entire past year while living & playing in Vegas. Trier is probably the only 2015 recruit who was primarily signed/sealed before he played HS in Vegas.
All the 2016 recruits listed among the elite by ESPN played in Vegas last year, which would have been their junior years. 2017 (Brown, Washington, etc.) - obviously are being recruited while playing in Vegas.
The 2014 guys - Oubre, Vaughn & Victor - probably just played his senior year, but there is still a ton of talent who's being recruited nationally while playing in Vegas.
Don't deny that guys like Oubre are a different situation, BUT whenever Kansas went out to see Oubre & keep in touch, I'm sure they build connections with the 2015-2017 recruits. So having even kids who went there only as seniors plays big dividends.

Believe Winston is actually from Houston area , Vaughn from Minnesota , many guys head to Findlay to Prep for basketball . So they are not really Vegas home guys . So the Rebels get some of them but do a lot of recruiting from other AAU circuits with their connections . Bishop Gorman is also a private school , mostly people from Nevada , similar to Mater Dei . Then we wonder why recruiting is so filthy . The prep schools of 15 guys , who sponsors and pays for them ? did we also forget the tennis shoe agreements .
