Russell Westbrook took to Twitter and congratulated AQ on graduating from SDSU. The two are local Lawndale area bros from Leuzinger High, I am not a huge Westbrook fan, but that was keeping it classy. AQ is such a great story, amazing mother who supported him with two jobs so he could walk-on and play for FISH. I am gonna miss those post game interviews and pranks. Aztec 4 Life.

I graduated from Leuzinger High in 1968 and SDSU in 1972. I'm proud to be an Olympian as an Aztec. In Maui last November after AQ won the game BYU? I found him as he was leaving and said go Olympians and he really smiled big. Class guy and Westbrook is too. PS both my parents graduated from Leuzinger.

I'll never get why Westbrook polarizes so much. He's a Terrific player, amazing athlete and great humanitarian. BTW, he was extremely close to playing college ball in SD. At USD that is, surprisingly.

Didn't Westbrook win the NBA charitable award yesterday? Please forgive me for not knowing the name of the award, but it is given to the player who does the most charitable work in the community for the past year.

AQ is a great story and a better guy. After watching him on some of the post-game interviews, I think he's got some talent and might make a good analyst for Aztec basketball games. Just think, if he paired with Lightner, Coach Fisher might even let them sit next to the home bench at Viejas.......nah.

At USD that is, surprisingly. Because he dresses pretty eccentric, and hatas gon' hate. Seems like a great guy though. Good to hear AQ got his degree, best part of the thread is to see that.

Good to hear AQ got his degree, best part of the thread is to see that. Agree 100%. Based on his life history I don't think there was any doubt that he would graduate.

Congrats to Aqeel on getting his diploma. He'll always be an Aztec no matter where life takes him after this.
