Great to hear it . Any word if he has finalized if he will be coming in 2016 or 2015 , He was trying to reclassify to 2015 . So true - this is very, very KEY! If he's 2015, then...
a) he can RS next year, practicing daily against Sky & Chol, AND have the potential to be a 4-year starter b) our 2015 class may have just topped our 2014 class (or at least nearly matched it) c) we won't have to freak out for 6 months worrying he'll get poached
If he stays 2016 it's a nice announcement and a great building block to build upon, BUT thought the same thing with Smith. Really doesn't mean all that much - until November.
I still believe he reclassifies & RS's next year, which was my original prediction & #1 priority. THIS is the kid I wanted more than Cage, or even the USF kid actually.
Next prediction is we sign a FR or SO transfer.
I don't understand reclassifying to redshirt unless he wants a year to concentrate on academics and adjust to college life. The only other benefit I can think of would be that if he stays in college for his complete eligibility he would be able to transfer his 5th year should he want.

I can see how reclassifying and redshirting would be a lot better than playing another year of HS/prep ball.
He'll get better coaching, better training (esp. weight room), will be immediately familiar with his teammates when he's ready to play the following season, and adapt to the rigors of a college student-athlete schedule.

^^ Agree with that.
What's better for a kid with pro ambitions? A year playing glorified pickup ball against lesser talent - or spending a year in a new practice facility against two veteran bigs and hitting the SDSU weight room with our coaching staff overseeing development?

It's funny how I'm sure a lot of the same people who want him to reclassify and come early may be the same people that said Jamaal or Kawhi weren't ready and should stay another year in college.

jesus christ we can have seventeen stadium threads, four football schedule threads, three kawhi threads and a rotation of one or two straight spam threads... but we get a new aztec basketball player and it isn't worthy to discuss on the main board for a day

This is a really huge score... who's the last top 100 recruit we've had as a big man? Let alone a guy who is totally on the rise as well. Used to be 140ish by rivals, now is #62, and probably will continue to climb. Huge get, and I think if anything it improves our chances to land Cage since they'd probably be able to play the 4 and the 5 on the court at the same time, depending on who else we have around them we could just play big, and have Cheatham play the 3 (kind of like Kawhi, Billy White, and Malcolm), although who knows if Cheatham is going to be good enough with the ball to play the 3.
I'm stoked about this though, it'll seem like such a luxury to have a low post player who can score

Pretty huge pick-up. Would love to see him re-classify and redshirt, seems like he could develop quicker that way and we don't have to worry about losing him like Smith.
Gonzaga fans seem to not think much of our program from reading their board. They sound a lot like Lobo fans -- maybe worse. They act like kids choosing SDSU is such a step down from their program. They have had more success than us overall and have a longer history of success, but our program is not that much off of theirs.

Would he have come here in August without the new gym? No
He was 6'9" 210 lbs. when we were recruiting him. He is 6'10" now that he has orally committed. Stand tall Nolan! He is 17. When we brought in Sky, he was 6'8" and is 6'10" now. Dare we hope for Nolan to be 7'?
Watched his YouTube and thought of JJ who shoots the 3 better. Love to see JJ work with him on the spin move.
Nolan is smart to red shirt. He needs to hit the training table and weight room. He needs 30 lbs. of strength to play inside.
Malik will be gone by the time Nolan plays. He will learn from practicing with Malik and will take over Malik's role.

Great article from Zeigler . Does show some interesting things . Importance of the TP Tournament . Getting a variety of schools/players from all over the country , but also having an AZTEC home OOC game or two when it is going on helps recruiting . Also making sure we fill Viejas for all our home games during OOC is vital , even the easier ones . But great senior night game vs Nevada , was also important . By the way there was another recruit here for the Nevada game , M. Cage Jr. ,wonder if they chatted ( Cage was there to cheer on his sister who I believe won an award in Volleyball ). So thanks to all the fans who were there for both games.
If Nolan does reclassify to 2015 , and signs means . Written deal . Does take 1 scholarship still leaves us with one if we want to use it . Starts learning the system for offense and defense ( as we saw with Malik takes time ). Would get to work with PG : JH and the other guys coming back in 2016 , while learning from Skylar , Angelo , Winston , Malik down low, before they leave .If we get hit with major injury they can pull the red shirt to make him active . Will also be interesting to see what happens wit BJ - red shirt or active ?
If he stays as 2016 could play on Canadian team ,plus his Prep school and AAU . Get a lot of PT. Maybe help recruit other guys . BUT , could be stolen if he keeps getting better by a blue blood school . Nothing is guaranteed until you sign as we and others have learned.

Thanks. Nice touch. Shot looks a little odd (elbow looks too far inside), but nice rotation & release. As he grows into his body and adds that power game he should be a real fun one to watch.

It reminds me of a hitter who takes a high step or starts with the bat real high, but has it in position to hit when the pitch comes. He starts out inside, but has a true release.

Kind of weird at the lack of posts on here, huge get for us. He's going to be really good. High level rebounder, decent shot blocker, and skilled.
