Scout had an article today about Nolan Narain. You may need a subscription to read but in summary his top two are San Diego State and Gonzaga. He is still deciding whether to re-classify. Other schools calling include Arizona, Arizona State and Georgia Tech. scouthoops.scout.com/story/1541718-top-two-for-narain?s=75

Crossed fingers, I think he's a crucial get for the Aztecs... especially if he reclassifies. We have SOOOOOOO much playing time available for bigs after next season.

If we went into 2016 that'd open it up more IMO.
We're in a good spot with him, but still get feeling he's all warm & fuzzy about Zags based on his comments.
We'll see. IMO he's priority #1 right now, over any transfer or 2016 recruit obviously.

Believe there was also a report in Rivals . Something similar as of today : top two schools are the Zags and Aztecs . Still open on final decision for school and year he may want to classify for 2015 or 2016 . Glad we are still in the running but to me there is no "moral victory " if we are his thank you but second choice . He is the top priority for the coaching staff . Believe there are a wide variety of AAU events this spring / summer . Do not know if he also has to take additional classes to re classify to 2015 . hope we can sign him for whatever year he wants .

If he reclassifies in 2015, for the Zags he would play behind Wiltjer, Karnowski and Sabonis + Edwards (RS). In 2016 all those guys leave and Zach Collins enters into the picture. For us he plays behind Malik, Chol, Sky and Z and perhaps Jones in 2015, In 2016 minutes open up and plays along side of Z or Jones.
Its the same scenario in Spokane as it is in San Diego. But, I assume the Zags will grab up a few top tier transfers since they haven't recruited that well in 2015.

I am tiring of this bridesmaid B.S. in recruiting. Win this one!

Actually, the situation is not the same between Gonzaga and SDSU. If he's looking for more PT so that he can display his play, he is actually better served coming to SDSU.
The situation for Narian is analogous to when Drew Gordon was selecting between SDSU vs. New Mexico. Gordon probably would have ended up here, but he would have had to compete against Kawhi/Thomas/White. It was an easier path for play time at UNM. For Narian, Both SDSU and Gonzaga are stacked in the post this coming season. But SDSU will present more playing time for Narian in 2016.

Their main 3 will be gone most likely and I don't think even they know who will be playing the post after that. Unfortunately he'd have PT opportunities at either place.

San Diego is a much nicer, warmer and livelier place to live then Spokane. Choose Americas Finest City.
The Zags have 7 spots open in 2016 and there forward offers look alot like ours: Vance Jackson, Brendan Bailey, MJ Cage, Nolan Narain and Zach Collins.

I highly doubt Gonzaga has plans of starting Collins and Narain together. I think Collins would be starting PF and Gobzaga would find a center.

For most higher rated recruits it is about PT and who can get them to the NBA as quickly as possible . Have heard as mentioned that if he were to reclassify from 2016 to 2015 he may want to red shirt the 2015 season and start playing the 2016 season . SDSU ,as of today ,has 2 scholarships , and no problem if he red shirts or plays. Do not know scholarships for Gonzaga , are they looking at guard transfers to fill the 3 guards who graduated . Loaded up front so they would not mind if he red shirts.
So far for 2016 Aztecs will have Zylan PF/ SF , and BJ not sure about his ability or frame for MBB ? or position. Looking to get Cage and ? others depending on Narain's plans. Not sure about the Zags other then Collins C/PF for 2016 up front .
Has Narain said if he prefers C or PF ?
If Narain is playing the AAU circuits or Canadian team he could get even more offers .

Less chance to build relationships over the summer via the shoe circuit, and more apt to go with just the 2 - Zags & us.
His dad appears to be the type who keeps score as to the amount of love shown to him & his kid, so hopefully we're giving him a lot of love right now.
Can't wait until the roster is set & solidified, although think this goes into June...unfortunately.

Anyone have any idea of when he'd need to decide if he is going to re-classify? Wouldn't he need to take additional classes to graduate early? I don't really get how this re-classification stuff works.

Anyone have any idea of when he'd need to decide if he is going to re-classify? Wouldn't he need to take additional classes to graduate early? I don't really get how this re-classification stuff works. Me neither, but someone had said that many of these Canadian kids are a year ahead when they come down to the US, which makes it easier to graduate earlier.
As for timing, there's no date at all. If he has enough to graduate in May he can decide then. If June... If he needs to take a class or two until July..then he can simply sign scholarship papers with a university then, just as any HS kid could to get into college.
Of course with any delays you encounter: 1) programs may no longer have availability; 2) NCAA Clearinghouse tends to slow to begin with when deciding eligibility so tempting fate with any delay; and 3) he'd be missing summer programs on campus (e.g. practice time).
Since Nolan apparently wants to RS next year anyway I don't think he's in much of a hurry.

From Twitter today.
Nolan Narain invited to Adidas Nations camp this weekend. In other words, Top 40 2016 prospect on the Adidas Guantlet out of 800 players.
