We can offer every guy . What is important what guys have the Aztecs on their list . Maybe if we play a little more up tempo this year and include the 5/C as an active part of the offense would help if we want those recruits to consider SDSU.

I think we get Lazer focused on 5 to 6 guys and hope to land 1-2. I like a broader approach; however, I know it has to be a two way street. We can woo all we want but the players have to be willing to play at the Mesa. It would be great to have these 10 guys be in the Viejas for high profile fall games! Perhaps, Kansas.
BTW - the way Kawhi is playing in the NBA playoffs and his DPOY is one of our best recruiting tools right now.

2 down - 8 to go.
2017 Centennial (CA) F Jalen Hill has received an offer from San Diego State. I think McCoy has an offer as well.

Interesting story with Polanco, he hails from the Dominican and came to the US speaking very little English. He is playing at Army-Navy and doctors project him to grow another 2-3 inches to reach 6'10 or 6'11. The story goes that his dad is 7'2".

I am sure that Trojan recruiting will mirror Aztec recruiting for years to come or until Andy Enfield gets fired.

I was hoping that the AZTECS would make a play for 6'8 Ira Lee. No cigar.

USC has not moved up as quickly as they had hoped . So as you say 2015 will be important for their Alums, to see if they can work their way up the PAC , a strong conference that keeps getting better with good coaches, teams and PAC had a great recruiting of HS players . USC picked up 2 top 100 players , better then the Aztecs . Signed Aaron over the Aztecs , so things could be on the way up , but as you say they need to win . They are also in the mix for other top 2016 HS players . In addition to USC , OSU, Washington , ASU, Utah have also showed marked improvement to go along with the normal top teams Arizona, UCLA, Ducks, . they did well in MM last year . Arizona and UCLA have already received verbals from top 20 players in 2016 , so the competition is very strong.

It is a good thing that the hoops talent on the West Coast is on the upswing as SDSU now has a lot more competition for players in the 25 - 75 ranked range. The big question is: What happens to our recruiting when Steve Fisher steps down? Fisher is a brand name draw so hopefully the Program can get beyond Fisher and continue its elite level of recruiting and play going forward.

Optimistically I actually think there's a chance it could even improve. Everyone in the basketball world knows Dutcher is an extension of Fisher, so I'm not sure there would be that much of a drop off as far as name brand, and he's younger and can relate more to the players... Although Fisher obviously can too. I'm sure a lot of players out there would like to play for a younger (although I suppose he still isn't "young"), more energetic coach.

As of today plus possibly until Fisher decides to actually retire that is not a problem for a while , plus the transition is already there for all to see . Low on the list of our problems for today .
Much more important is the marked improvement of recruiting by CAL , plus numerous other PAC schools . At least 5 or 6 did better then we did this past year , and continuing for 2016 .Then toss in Gonzaga 's HS recruiting and getting transfers that we normally get, to the mix of schools we are battling with for recruits . Also Rebels . Be concerned about 2016 , with Fisher here and even 2017 . There are two Big Men Recruits from San Diego, for 2017 that we do not seem to be near the top of their wish lists for schools .
Reloading for 2016 is not going to be as easy as some may think . So far the Verbal from Narain .

So far the Verbal from Narain . Cal could just be a 1 year thing. There aren't too many Rabb's who want to stay close to home, and he's the reason Brown is also in Berkeley. They easily could go back to a level closer to us (e.g. the Birds, Wallaces, etc.).
Great series of articles on ESPN right now, including an overview of Cal (Insider):
espn.go.com/college-sports/recruiting/basketball/mens/insider/story/_/id/13009862/summer-recruiting-targets-needs-cal-golden-bears-college-basketball
The good thing is they'll most likely only need 1-2 more recruits for 2016, and none of their primary targets really crossover with ours. Believe our review will be shown around June 23rd.
Some teams will be consistently high (e.g. blue bloods); most (like us, Cal, Stanford, USC, etc.) will be cyclical. Zags have changed their approach to really go hard after transfers much like Altman & Oregon a few years ago, which has worked for them. Wiltjer has become the poster child for transfers these days. Both of those schools also have a boatload of money to spend on b-ball. MUCH more than us.
No year is "easy", and 2016 isn't any different. That said, we're ahead of most teams right now. Having stability on your staff (zero changes) & opening a new practice facility can only help with this class.

Believe CAL has picked up a lot of cred with recruits as they have landed 2 of the top 10 recruits for 2015 . Either or both could be one and done, depending on how they and the team do this year. If they are NBA players helps them recruit and opens up scholarships but they will be tough to replace . Believe they are very pleased with a new assistant coach Jones , a former coach with Louisville , who helps with recruiting . 2016 they have Verbal from #66 Oscar Frayer SF, a 4 star . There is also an article talking about the Bears from Vance Jackson and his father about how they feel CAL has really been a new factor with the current coaching staff. Jackson was an Aztec hopeful recruit for 2016 . Do not know where he stands with us now . CAL has also been recruiting guard Justin Moore , another recruit we have been looking at for 2016 . Also believe McCoy lists CAL as a possible school, along with Stanford and Ivy League schools , or guess he could add Duke .

We'll worry about '17 after '16. Jackson definitely is someone we both offered, but we're not in his consideration set so don't think that's relevant.
I know Cal was recruiting Kone pretty hard for a while - not sure if that's still the case & doesn't show up in ESPN's summary of primary targets either. I know he had a hell of a game against Frayer's team & they know each other pretty well.
Having a big year will definitely help Cal, but they need to do it first. Another factor is what happens with Stanford? I think Dawkins is toast after this year, so if they bring in someone with panache that'll hurt Cal. Right now they've passed Stanford as the big boys in the region, but again that's primarily based on the Rabb factor.
Time will tell. Lots of time left, and many (like Kone) have indicated they may not commit early.
