I talked to WS a couple of weeks ago at the ARC...he said he was coming back after consulting with his parents...he said Fisher told him that he'd be a 2nd or not drafted at all...he straight up said that he has till the 26th to declare and he wanted a little drama about his decision...he was pretty candid...as well as I and my gym bud...about his game and what he needs to do to go to the next level...I told him if he dunks instead of finger roll...that he'd already be in the NBA...he then said he could've been a lot better if he had some place to practice on a full-time basis...he cited Powell from UCLA being in a good situation because the school has a dedicated practice facility...he says he can only practice early in the morning because the ARC is too full after 10am and he doesn't have access to Viejas...this goes to show how valuable the JAM center will be for recruiting and tightening up their games...in closing out our conversation...I said that he should compare himself to Leonard, Franklin and Thames...Leonard is a natural and has stuck...Franklin went in with a highlight reel and the jury is still out on his NBA career...Thames had a lot of accolades and is struggling...I asked which one does relate to...I told him that he wants a NBA GM to invest millions in him rather than hundreds of thousands...this way he has a better chance of sticking in the league...he agreed and we departed. Yeah, but is your source reliable? The Real Oracle Out

DA! Gotta Stay! DA! Gotta Stay!
For me, Dakarai's defense is something to behold. I would guess last year was a huge improvement over his freshman year. He seems to have cut way back on his fouls. If DA can further develop his outside shot, watch out! I remember that hugely important three he hit at ... Wyoming was it? He was also clutch at the line in at least one game. I remember Fish yelling at Dakarai to make some real important free throw ...and he did! I remember his bounce pass on a breakaway off a turnover leading to a dunk that was spectacular.
DA should be well aware that good defense = play time on our team. I am positive I will love both Zylan and and Hemsley, but their skill as an Aztec on defense is still a question mark.
I fully agree with obboy13.
If not a starter, I certainly see DA taking over the prestigious "Dwayne Polee II chair of Destroyer of Opponents Will to Win".
Go Aztecs!

The JAM center is, or can be, a game changer for the team & the coaches.

Don't the players have access to Peterson Gym? If not, thats pretty lame Don't know what it's like today, but back in my day Peterson was used by men's basketball, women's basketball, volleyball, gymnastics and maybe other teams. In addition, it was used by a variety of PE classes. Not much time available for individual practice time.

Peterson has been converted/upgraded and I believe is only for the VB team now. But it may still be convertible so you can bring the hoops down and shoot around, not too sure about that.

I'd be really surprised to see DA move on. He seems to get along really well with teammates and earned quite a few minutes when Polee was out. He's great on defense... not sure why he doesn't shoot more as he lit it up in high school.
Same with WSIII- I was not even aware there was a decision to make there. I'd like to think he's got a breakout season in him. Keep waiting for him to take the stirrups and lead this team. When he's engaged and fired up in a game he's completely dominant.

Believe the last day to declare for NBA draft is 4.26 . So final decision soon
Also on April 21 ESPNU is supposed to have a TV show with many of the top 7 HS recruits who have not signed # 2, 3 , 5 , 7, possibly choosing a school .
after those two happenings , we should know a lot more about transfers

Winston has a lot of talent . But so much depends on his mental attitude . Can he see himself returning to college and everything involved with staying in school ,to improve his skills or doing it some where for a some Pro team in the US or abroad . All depends on what He sees as better for him .

Just cut the TOs down and get the FT %% up and he'll be First Team All-MWC.
If he gets a mid-range jumper, he could be an All-American.
I hope that dunking we saw out of him late in the year resonates into the next.

Playing one more year for SDSU will give WS3 the best opportunity to be seen by the NBA guys he wants to be seeing him.
With the players already on the team, an improved WS3, and any 5th year pickups, the Aztecs have a great chance to really get noticed nationally in 2015-16. The schedule offers multiple publicity ops.
Not being drafted, then packing off to another continent, is a good way to become a forgotten man, I think.

Would guess most Aztec fans agree and want Winston back, but he has to see that in his mind as the best opportunity for him . Mentally is he prepared to come back to college life , or with his friends from Findlay Prep already either in or on their way to the NBA , does he want to try now . I agree with the list of guys going out , he could benefit from another year at SDSU , if the Aztecs keep him at a position that NBA scouts see him playing going forward . Do what he does best , attack the basket with authority ,finish , pass as point forward , rebound defense , draw fouls , fill up the stat sheets , LEAD his team to SW16 or better are all important. Be very involved in an up tempo offense . Would also look forward to thanking the Shepard family at senior night at Viejas.

I think DA should stay, he will have a chance to compete for a starting position on a team which annually makes the NCAA tournament. If he can make shots he will play.

Both are very good options for him. You can have a terrific lifestyle playing in EU, and WS has the game to play there.
Does anyone know if he's on track to graduate in the spring? If not, I'm sure that'd factor into his decision as well.
If his sole goal is the NBA, then returning at least gives him another shot to open that door a little next year. If his goal is to play professionally, then he has many options now, starting with landing a NBA summer league gig.
Hope he returns, but understand if he's attracted to playing in EU as well. BTW, I had a friend who played in Croatia & he absolutely loved it.

I hope that dunking we saw out of him late in the year resonates into the next. Consistency with the jumper would do wonders! Say 8-14 feet.....he's had good days shooting that distance. Fake drives and pull up jumpers.....would be good.Practice it many many times. That game against CSU in the MWC Tourney, where he drove to the hoop and finished with authority.......was that Shep at his best? It just goes to show what he CAPABLE of doing. FT shooting and less turnovers speak for themselves. A team goal should be to shoot 70% for the year.
