Believe Winston has until April 26 th to decide . so he can watch to see what the list looks like for those leaving early . Wood at UNLV , plus maybe Stanley J. at Arizona have not decided . D. Allen can really wait until the summer to see what opportunities are out there for him if he chose to transfer to another school .

The big question Winston needs to have answered is whether he'll make more progress playing with younger players or with older ones.
While he's still got plenty to prove at this level, I'm not sure the competition will allow it…

I think both Winston and Malik could gain a lot in the eyes of the NBA IF they can lead SDSU to an E8 in MM ( we have not gotten there before ). also beating Kansas , Utah , CAL , WVU would also add to the resume . Yes the MW is weak , but UNLV could be a top 10 team and even BSU has an opportunity to be a top 25 if both play a decent OOC . So he could benefit from coming back and Producing.
playing in Europe will always be there . does not mean a clear shot after to the NBA . but in the end it is all up to him and his advisers where he sees himself fitting . Also do not know how close he is to graduating or if that is important to him , but a lot harder to come back later and get the diploma . Do remember he needed assistance for a car loan so do not know if family issues are something to be concerned about .
D. Allen has not said anything either way . there was an article that said it is easier for some one to transfer after their second year rather then their year . Article at that time also said both Zabo and DW( D. Allen's good friend) were coming back . Zabo is now going to leave . Does that mean DW stays for sure and D. Allen with him . Does Winston come back ? if so with Malik and Zylan makes 3 forwards for sure . Do the Aztecs add M. Tolleffsen (sp ) a grad transfer PF/C/SF , That would be 4 forwards. So would guess D. Allen watches what happens then makes a decision . Or could he be SF / SG that is a defensive specialist and guy that drives to the basket . would guess he wants PT . An up tempo offense with guys getting to the basket could help his game rather then the ball screen style . If Shepard and Pope are the forwards , they should be playing at least 25 + minutes a game , so could be an interesting decision for D. Allen . Maybe 15 each for Zylan and . Allen and some time at SG for D. Allen .

If we can get the WSIII vs. CO St. in the MW Tourney every game then by all means please stay. But that aggressive type of play doesn't happen often enough. Instead we get a steady dose of soft, ball stopper WSIII who is thinking about NBA endorsements while accruing overly finessed charging calls on 2-on-1 fastbreaks.
If WSIII goes it will mentally facilitate Pope to step up his leadership. This is why I am OK with WSIII going, though I'm cool with him staying since the coaching staff is likely giving him a massive dose of video from that one game.

I talked to WS a couple of weeks ago at the ARC...he said he was coming back after consulting with his parents...he said Fisher told him that he'd be a 2nd or not drafted at all...he straight up said that he has till the 26th to declare and he wanted a little drama about his decision...he was pretty candid...as well as I and my gym bud...about his game and what he needs to do to go to the next level...I told him if he dunks instead of finger roll...that he'd already be in the NBA...he then said he could've been a lot better if he had some place to practice on a full-time basis...he cited Powell from UCLA being in a good situation because the school has a dedicated practice facility...he says he can only practice early in the morning because the ARC is too full after 10am and he doesn't have access to Viejas...this goes to show how valuable the JAM center will be for recruiting and tightening up their games...in closing out our conversation...I said that he should compare himself to Leonard, Franklin and Thames...Leonard is a natural and has stuck...Franklin went in with a highlight reel and the jury is still out on his NBA career...Thames had a lot of accolades and is struggling...I asked which one does relate to...I told him that he wants a NBA GM to invest millions in him rather than hundreds of thousands...this way he has a better chance of sticking in the league...he agreed and we departed.

Irrespective of how WSIII has played this year [he has dominated and sometimes you don't even know he is there], he has gained my respect for the way he has turned into a good and decent man of Character. Remember when he was a Freshman and would pout or talk back to Coach Fisher during the games etc. Well, the young man has grown into a leader and we would be fortunate to have him back for his Senior year. I saw Winston the II at the MWC Tourney and told him what I have posted here. We are lucky to have had WSIII on this team as he was the second [Leonard being the first] big time recruit who said yes to SDSU. Had we not had Shepard say yes at the critical time that he did, SDSU may have never gotten Pope, Cheatham or Helmsley. I hope Allen stays and accepts the challenge to improve his game offensively, I have always liked how that kid carries himself.

I hope they both stay. WSIII to round out his skills and provide some leadership from a young man who has matured before our eyes; and Dakari because he plays like the most fearless guy on the Mesa. Instant intensity can help the whole team.

I've seen players in the ARC myself practicing in the morning and its really not a good setup. Coaches cannot teach players to make baskets, shooting is something players need to practice on their own. The JAM Center will go along way to help that. The NCAA mandates how much practice time coaches can hold, but the players can practice together as much as they want on their own (without coaches present); having their own facility they're more likely to do that.

We've become a program now. Where good players who can start or contribute elsewhere leave.
