We were a SW16 the year before but slipped last year . Recruiting is not just something that you can turn on last minute , you really have to work at it almost all year except during "dead periods" and many times the coaches are working on recruits for 2 ,3 even 4 years out. if you want to play with the big boys . We were not able to get to S16 until we landed a 4* K. Leonard , especially if you are a G5 school . If you do not think other schools say that when they are recruiting against us you are naïve . The PAC landed 4 schools in SW16 last year MW zero . What do you think Oregon and Washington are telling K. Smith . We landed K. Leonard because we were recruiting him during his sophomore year in HS.

We will continue to land big time recruits. The conference affiliation is really not that important in hoops. Teams get to play good teams and get on TV. Players want exposure and with Coach Fish at the helm recruits know they can get exposure. The guys that make a difference have NBA talent. Coming to SDSU not only gives you a great experience of sold out games, exciting basketball, but it also has become a road to the NBA. I am not worried in the least. Conference affiliation is very important in basketball recruiting

Some of you guys remind me of my wife......thinking some small little insignificant thing one of our kids did in school will ruin them for life. Stop chewing your nails and take some Midol.

I wonder what the hell we are going to do if we get all three of them? How will we find them court time and does that mean that we will see players leaving for more playing time elsewhere?
<Please note that it is quite possible there is some amount of sarcasm in this post>

Don't freak out, we will get someone good, we always do, for the last 5+ years. Why expect anything else?

They just lost Smith for 2016 and I am concerned that they may strike out on 3 pitches of Narain, Cage & Tollefsen. I also haven't seen anything suggesting that Kohne (sp?) is highly interested and Bailey appears to be headed to either Utah or BYU in part because of his Mormon upbringing. Are the Aztecs at a turning point where we regress to the level of an unranked NIT quality program over the next couple of years? I am genuinely concerned about where we are headed at this moment. REACTION!As the self-appointed leader of the Pollyannas...I try not reacting to troll posts...

Getting into MM for six consecutive years also has a lot of value. Players want to play in MM. The Aztecs do so with consistency at this point. National TV exposure is what every recruit badly wants.
You can't win if you ain't in.

You can't win if you ain't in. Very true and I might add that the unprecedented string of bowl games Football has been in is not seen by our Negative Nellies on here. Football is getting better. It is just too bad we had the scheduling glitch that turns this upcoming seasons home schedule ugly. It will continue to get better.

I don't know why anyone follows recruiting until the kids actually sign. It's a giant waste of time and energy. Who gives a crap who SDSU offers or verbals to SDSU? Just wait for them to sign and until then live your lives and worry about things that really matter in life. As a general rule kids who have verballed to us have signed. Not getting excited about, for instance, Malik Pope giving us a verbal last season is plain crazy for an avid Aztec basketball fan.

It's way too early for us fans to start worrying about 2016 recruiting. I hope the coaches are worrying and working hard to land people but as fans, just sit back and relax... I'm sure they'll have some nice players up their sleeves even if we don't land those three

Well for years we didn't get 4 and 5 star recruits and we did just fine. Of course we have our targets but Coach Fisher and staff are excellent judges of talent and they'll find their DJ Gays, Jamaal Franklins, and Billy Whites. For sure! Some examples of lower to mid rated high school recruits who were very good players at SDSU. Billy White Las Vegas Area 3 Star Malcolm Thomas Crawford High School San Diego 2 Star Jamaal Franklin Phelan High/Winward Prep No Rating to 2 Star DJ Gay Sun Valley Poly High No Rating Chase Tapley Sacramento High School 3 Star Rivals 2 Star on Scout XavierThames Pleasant Grove High School 3 Star #106 Nationally Tim Shelton Clovis West High School No Rating Rivals 2Star on Scout Lorenzo Wade Cheyenne High Las Vegas 3 Star Rivals #87 Nationally Mohamed Abukar Rancho Bernado High School 4 Star Rivals #40 Nationally There are many fine players that have 2-3-4 Stars........It's up to the coaches to find them and get them to sign Letters Of Intent to attend SDSU.....So no worrying yet.........In Fish I Trust!

Billy White,Malcolm Thomas and a pair of pretty good guards in DJ Gay and Chase Tapley and main subs of Tim Shelton,Brian Carlwell and James Rahon. Yes, Kawhi was a fine player but we had a very very good TEAM......I thought we would beat UCONN for sure.

Yes we were a good team but needed the addition of 4* K. Leonard to help put us close to SW16 status . Guess I am spoiled getting to MM is good but think getting back to SW16 or better is my hope going forward .For 2015 , will need solid contributions from highly rated Shepard and Pope . That takes getting high quality recruits for 2016 and beyond..

There's a few guys that have a chance to be MWC first team players over the next few years: Polk, Cheatam, Hemsley and Kell.
