Great news. Tom put me on the board in the 70's with another poster. If you need some history we can help. I would get Tom and Ernie to be taped. Ernie was in my class I believe.
I am planning a trip from FL. to see the USD game, and the Cal. game and will fly up for the Penn game. Hope to get to see you again. We need to push hard now or else it will be to late.

As a few of you may know...I was elected earlier this year to be the next President of the Aztec Club. My two-year Reign of Terror is set to begin 07.01.16. I have many goals but my Top 2 are: 1. Get us into the Big 12...and receive all of the credit for it. Statue? 2. Bring/Sneak on to the BOD...original and nearly original members of the SHOW and start shaking the place up and feeling good about the future. I had to go first with what I have most control of so far. Of nine new members to the General Board that were elected last week...I brought on four. Three of them are Original/Semi-Original SHOW Members (I'm picturing a couple heads exploding right now and I'm LOVING it) and another fantastic guy who is also a prominent poster here. All four new members are welcome to "out" themselves here if they wish. I believe one of the SHOW members has been banned from here...would be a nice gesture if the mods would see to it to un-ban him in good faith. I personally am not mentioning names or "posters" because I know many on here like to be anonymous...most of you should be able to crack Jim Marshall's board name though. My goal is to get the Aztec Club median age much younger and have help thinking outside the box. My four are going to do that...times 100. We already have terrific people that have poured their lives (and lots of $$) into this organization. I'm not sure if any of the other five are on the forum...if you are...feel free to make yourself known if you'd like (and verify yourselves with me). Thrilled to have all nine of you. I've never felt better about the Aztec Club than I have this year. There are plenty who will tell you I'm the biggest pain in the a$$ because I think things move to slow. That's changing. Our current president, Kurt Cecconi is outstanding and doing a great job. I'm looking for more great people to come on the board in 2016...I need a buffer between me and impeachment. I also believe I'm the hardest person to get nominated by...I have very high standards. I would like to walk away from this in the near future and know that everyone left...is better than me and will take the Aztec Club to heights I haven't dreamed of. The Aztec Club is going to become cool. You have my word on that. Contact me for anything and everything. I really want to thank those of you that have reached out me through email and PM's with great questions...and then went on to buy more tickets and raise your donor levels. Many of you would be surprised at the level of participation that is on this forum. It's not nearly enough of you though. The $125 level is just a quick call away and telling someone at the Aztec Club that they can debit your credit card $10.42 per month. Jump in now. Do more when you can. Join us at the Belly UP this month. Where else would the New and Cool Aztec Club party? LINK Great goals and congratulations. You are a true Aztec for life and I appreciate how you represent the Scarlet and Black.

Way to go Dave! Did you really mean July 2015? 2016 is a looooong time to wait when you've got so many great ideas rolling around your brain!

YAY DAVE. Oh $#!+, does this mean sweet caroline is back? Don't remember who had that idea (I won't pin it on someone as there are probably emails floating around). It was proof I'll try most things though. One ball that was dropped (not by me) that I'm going to see through is honoring you and the original SHOW at a game. This is a no-brainer that has taken way too long. It needs to be done!

Adding the original Show to the board is inspired! They have played a major role in the success of our basketball team. During the game they cheer us to victory or encourage recruits to come here. It will be recognition well deserved and hopefully new ideas.

It will be recognition well deserved and hopefully new ideas. True story. All nominees had to come and speak at our board meeting earlier this year. That night...Jim Sterk sought me out at a basketball pre-grame reception to thank me for getting the SHOW guys involved. He said we needed them. They are all going to be great. Already have been. I expect big things from all our new board members. Just the beginning.

/exile off Dave deserves a ton of credit here. He has worked tirelessly even more than her let's on but many here are certainly understanding of his impact and future value to what we need this program to be going forward.
I want to recognize those members of the Show who are putting in another groundbreaking effort to complement their initial spark and vision that took a nascent fan support program to a nationally recognized phenomenon then had the courage to step aside and let it grow with the student body. This new direction brings their passion and a connection to the student body that's been lacking for as long as I've been an alum.
So for Dave and those Showlumni stepping in to take a critical role on the next generation of alumni boosters, from all of us, thank you, it is inspiring.

The future of donations to the athletic department are in the hands of the young...this is absolutely the right thing to do. You've got to get the young people involved now, because athletics future depends on their commitment to the program. What a way to get the recent graduates involved, AT ANY LEVEL. This is foundation building 101. The old guys will keep writing checks...we now need to get the up and comers used to writing them too!
Nice work Dave.
p.s. Dear Show members, if you can get the beer truck back to the alumni tailgate, you would be hero's to many here... ;-)

One ball that was dropped (not by me) that I'm going to see through is honoring you and the original SHOW at a game. I only speak for me, and not any of the other guys, but the only honor I would want would be for people to help me raise money for my science camp, or help me advertise it to get more kids signed up for it. The team itself has already done enough for me by allowing players to come visit my classrooms before.

There are so many board members, volunteers and donors that have done way more than me...and continue to do way more. Some of those people post and lurk here as well. They've got to be thinking..."if they only knew". Please don't use this post to kindly disagree with me. Its a fact. Anyone want to show their appreciation to our volunteers and donors? Show up to more of our events...bring people...increase your donation this year by at least 5=10% (you might not even notice it).

Dave, I agree with point 2. The originals should be recognized. They were there when the student section had a few hundred, tops. They are the Shows' grandparents. Many of the traditions started with them. And the present Show has added their personalities to make the best student section in the US.

Congrats Dave L. You've been quite helpful to me and I look forward to helping get the AC younger. (Er, even though I'm not that young!) But I look forward to seeing more youngish people at the table, not just long-time alumni, but a wide variety of people who see the connection between success on the field leading to recruiting successful students, who then stay in San Diego county long-term. Looking forward to what's ahead!
