Agreed that it looks legit that he could be coming to The Mesa... but I'm not convinced the staff wouldn't want to use the scholarship for a player with greater likely impact or at a position of greater need. If none of those guys pan out... then sure, the open scholarship would go to this guy. I disagree. Our low block presence is not changing much next year, notwithstanding Jones' arrival. Um.... Zylan Cheatham. And besides, if this guy is a "stretch 4" then that doesn't really change much in terms of our "low block presence." That's why I think a PG (like the guy from 'Nova) would be a MUCH higher priority than a backup PF/C (because either Shep or Zylan will start at the 4, Spencer starting at the 5).

I have high hopes for Zylan, but he's not an experienced senior who will knock down 60%+ of his 2-pt FGs next year (though I will hope he'll be that reliable). Zylan is not preceded by a reputation as a great shooter, and he's never made a bucket as a college player. The key losses that dropped us into the 8-seed (esp. against Wyoming in the MWC Tourney finals, where Skyler and Chol combined for 2 points) instead of getting bumped a little higher with a more reasonable shot at the Sweet 16, were due to our inability to make buckets. Once we got into the NCAA Tourney, our lack of a really capable point guard (to your point), certainly proved to be a problem against elite competition. It also was our biggest disadvantage when we played Arizona earlier in the season. That being said, if one likes above-the-rim basketball, the specter of Pope, Cheatham, Spencer, Chol, Tollefsen, Jones, Shepard and Hemsley seems formidable. While I agree it would be nice to nab the departing PG from #1 seed Villanova, it's unlikely. I might think Kansas, who has had holes at PG lately, or Arizona, who is losing McConnell, or UCLA, who is losing the former Lincoln High / San Diego kid (and took Larry Drew a few years back), all would take his call. But the kid from Nova is s not coming to the Mountain West.

Trey Lewis , Cleveland State , scoring guard , has already been on the Louisville campus had a great visit . The Cardinals are losing at least 3 guys so they have a lot of PT for guys to go there .
The PG situation IMO , we did not have guys that knew how to play the position well, neither AQ or TK played it in HS, and it was still on the job training , believe TK has a good BB IQ but not for a PG . We need a scorer so let him go back to that position . Both JH and Zabo are . Yes they both need to get the PT there in the OOC and even during MW , but should be ready by MM.
Key is finding out if WS is coming back to see , who or what position is needed . Some think PG , others SG , others SF ( thought MP )
Yes ZC is a freshman also , and could be the PF that can score close to the basket , while MP is the shooting/scoring forward , and or is WS here , also DA , who also is good at getting to the basket . What style of offense are we going to play > to fit the skill set of the guys we have . Figure that out first . So we have round peg for a round hole.

From Jeff Goodman at ESPNs Twitter an hour a ago. "Cleveland State transfer Trey Lewis has visited Louisville -- and also heavy interest from UCONN, Ohio state, Xavier and Texas." Is Fish looking at him?

Fisher and his staff usually spend s decent amount of time at MM talking with coaches about layers leaving their team or coaches who have played against the transfers . they also use it to line up OOC games . Couple years ago it was an opposing coach who suggested The Aztecs chat with J. Davis. They also find out who the influence people are for a recruit , in that case it was Mrs . Davis
Fisher also commented that in many cases it is current players who chat with guys who are looking to transfer . social media . Believe The Louisville players and also guys from Maryland have been very active in trying to recruit players.

Mark has a TS% of 60.7%. That is 1.214 points per possession on his shots. Malik Pope is 56.0%, X last year was 55.7%. He would be a great get for the Aztecs. He can score at a very efficient rate and defend. Malik and Mark at PF/SF would be a great duo. Winston could split time between starting SG and backup SF. Winston could play SG because M&M would give us plenty of 3 point shooting.
Put me down as a Mark Tollefsen Promoter.

Dylan Ennis, who averaged 9.9 PPG and 3.7 RPG in all 36 games for Villanova this season, is leaving the team... es.pn/1FlweddEnnis has listed Purdue, Tennessee, LSU, GTech, Baylor, Oregon, and Duke. No SDSU.

Pretty much any senior transfer who can immediately come in and contribute would be great or that open scholarship we have this year is kind of wasted doing nothing. I think a senior PG is a little bit harder to gauge than other positions coming in, especially because the ones we would go after would probably be from smaller schools/conferences. Look at Doolin for UNLV this year, he really wasn't that good of a ball handler. I don't think it is easy at all to bring in an old PG. Q's: Why did they leave where they were? Our PG's must be very fine D players and have a full understanding of the structure of our D It takes a while to know what the other players like to do, and where they are at their best, a new PG has a very steep learning curve.

Maybe Keith Smith will not come here but go to Oregon or Washington with Shaqquan Aaron another Seattle area player leaving Louisville. A double package perhaps? I guess we wait and see.

K. Smith did officially say he was reopening his recruiting . Aaron and other players have been in contact with him . most of the higher level HS recruits could be making their decisions soon . Also the guys who want to declare for the draft need to make a decision by April 26th , so transfers maybe making decisions on where to go shortly after . So look for a lot of action end of April into May .

As Mitt Romney would say, I have a binder full of 5th year senior guards; here's 5 players. - Aaron Crosby Illinois - 7.8 ppg, 3.6 rpg, 1.7 apg
- Derek Gordan UMass - 9.8, 4.9, 2.7
- Lonnie Jackson BC - 7.0, 2.2, 1.8* Jr year DNP
- Damien Lee Drexel - 21.4, 6.1, 2.3
- Adam Smith VA Tech - 13.6, 2.6, 1.0
- Troy Lewis Clev State - 16.3, 4.4, 3.0
Adam Smith went from vA Tech to GA Tech today, SD UT mentioned Lonnie Smith coming back to So Cal? Could be an option with Zabo gone and need for a experienced PG. Lee (PG) and Lewis (SG) land at Louisville.
