Hut probably told them, "thanks for the coffee but no thanks..."

Hut probably told them, "thanks for the coffee but no thanks..." Even if Coach Hutson didn't turn them down and got passed over it will work out for him in the long run. He has bigger things than USD in his future.

Hut probably told them, "thanks for the coffee but no thanks..." Dead end job. USD was fortunate Hutson gave them an interview.

Bummer for Coach Hut, I'm sure he really wanted that job.
What a stupid decision by USD. Blind loyalty to alumni...
But hey, great for us, with so many scholarships opening up over the next few years, the 2016 class will be huge for us.
And we keep the best defensive mind in college basketball on our staff.

Hooray for SDSU... bummer for Hut. Hopefully for him, he'll find a good HC spot somewhere soon. And until he does, good for the Aztecs.

Top assistant at New Mexico, with prior experience working with Randy Bennett, Romar and Sendek. Known as a good recruiter and developer of talent (e.g. Harden, many others). Defensive focus. Young and energetic. Seems like a very good fit actually. Sorry to to hear Justin didn't get the gig, but better for us.

Hutson is a great Coach , it is just a matter of time before he gets his shot. Hopefully it comes after 2016 March Madness when our Aztecs are in the Final Four and the announcers are talking about our Defensive Guru.

After this, can all the people on here wanting Hutson over Dutch just stop. Hutson will become a great coach I'm sure, but it takes time. He is still young and has a lot to learn from both Fisher and Dutcher as well.

From the UT: SDSU assistant Justin Hutson met last week with Snyder, an SDSU alumnus, but never heard from USD officials again. He learned of Smith’s hiring from the press release.

Hut probably told them, "thanks for the coffee but no thanks..." They don't drink coffee over there, coffee is for closers.

Hut had no defense against the refs and Okafor. For the most part we didn't have players who could match up against that team. Shepard was maybe the only one. Perhaps DA too, if given the opportunity.
