UConn fan here. Just wondering what you guys have been hearing lately on Bailey. Took an official visit to UConn this past weekend. Seems like UConn and SDSU are his top two. Where did you hear that UConn and SDSU are his top two? Since I haven't heard much, I haven't been expecting much. I have a friend who's pretty well plugged into to the recruiting scene for UConn and he's who told me. I haven't seen much publicly about his top schools so I'm going to go with him on it. As for the mission, I was told he's leaning towards doing on. Saw someone on Twitter say they heard he's likely doing one too.

Im still wondering if he will be going on a mission. Brendan's dad Thurl Bailey, converted to the LDS Church many years ago and was very involved with the Church and Charities. This article below was from 2003, when Brendan was only 5. www.deseretnews.com/article/460030429/Thurl-Baileys-wonderful-life.html?pg=all

Believe now through July is " Evaluation Periods " for college coaches to watch HS recruits perform at various events . No face to face communication . But believe you can talk , via phone or social media . August is "quiet period " Then September through the first week in November , right before early Signing week , is full recruiting . So the recruits are all out there performing and coaches are evaluating . Trying to set up the Official Visits for the full recruiting period , very important time . Would be great if the staff could set up OOC games at Viejas for the weekends before the Early signing period , if that is permissible . Bailey would be a very important recruit to sign , as we will need a player to replace Malik if he goes to the pros

For the remainder of June and July are considered "Evaluation Periods " where a coach from a school can go watch a recruit play, but not have any face to face conversation with them . So this is the time when recruits are out there doing their thing and then set up visits . They can talk by phone or social media . Not sure if a recruit can come visit a campus to talk ? August is quiet time and then September is full time of recruiting , visits ... This thread says Bailey's first visit here was "unofficial" , was it ? The link says he took "official visit"here. So would guess he does the AAU events then sets up visits for September / October or even first week of November . So would be great if we could schedule home OOC games and visits for 10/31 or 11/7. Early signing time is 11/11-11/18 .

They definitely were as of late April: Auburn, Connecticut, Gonzaga, Michigan San Diego State and Utah have been active in the recruitment since Bailey de-committed from the Sun Devils on March 24. "I had to take a step back and see how everything would unfold so I opened my recruitment all the way back up,"Bailey said. "I'm going to wait and see how the summer goes and then make a decision from there. I'm still going to consider ASU for sure."
ESPN has him as one of their primary targets in their recent overview of Utah hoops.
Haven't seen or read anything about him saying anything to the contrary?

Like that the family has such high respect for the SDSU coaches knowledge of the game and their integrity.

Bailey could be a great #3 to go with Suncliffe (who apparently is blowing up right now).
Long ways to go - a lot can still happen.

There are going to be numerous events , games , tournaments... for at least the next 5 weeks , guys ratings will go up and down and the coaches getting their opinions of the various recruits. Coaches will try to line up visits for recruits , then it could get very interesting, to see what recruits want to take a closer look at what schools. See school in session , fall practices . Nice thing for the Aztecs will be to have the JAM center to show the guys in person who come for a visit , besides being able to view it on line . As mentioned things can change weekly or even more often . These guys are still going to high school . Could also help if the recruit actually listens to their parents , rather then AAU coach , HS coach, other recruits ....

I'd say ASU has no shot, he's just saying that to be courteous. I don't think I've ever seen a recruit decommit from somewhere and then decide to go back to that same school. He decommitted, he's looking elsewhere

He decommitted, he's looking elsewhere He decommitted because the coach left & he didn't have a relationship with the new one, not because he changed his mind about the school. If Hurley can develop a relationship with him then they definitely have a shot. Hurley's more dynamic than Sendek, so wouldn't count him out.
If he'd had decommitted from Hurley & just said he wanted to open up recruiting then I'd agree with you - that'd imply 2nd thoughts & yea, most don't go back to the same school. But that wasn't the case here.

All primarily guess work until recruits set up their visits . They go back and forth, until they decide what are the best offers and places to visit .No reason for a recruit to rule any one out until then. Would hope that Bailey still has us on his list and we have on campus visit when we have an OOC game scheduled.

He's basically said he'll sit down in July/August & put a timeline on when he'll make a decision. Could be August, September or October, or could go into the season (November). I still think he'll make a decision before his season starts, and most likely prior to the start of the NCAA season. Only time will tell.
Wouldn't surprise me if he wanted to take his final 3 officials - could be Gonzaga, BYU & Arizona, or I guess he could take an "official" to Utah, or there may be another player in the mix? But my guess is he's more likely to visit on a football weekend in Sept/October than anywhere for a game during the season. He's already taken an official to SDSU so if he came here for a game it'd be on his own dime.
