Believe Friday 3/27 Damien HS plays in the CAL State Championship MBB game for DIV 3 . Aztecs 2015, recruit Combo guard JH will be playing. Then on Sat 3/28 LaMirada(they beat BJ's team last Saturday) plays Archbishop Mitty for Division 2 championship - Mitty has Ben Kone who plays Center/5 - he has an offer from the Aztecs for 2016. Later game has Mater Dei in the open division- with Michael Cage- also has an offer for 2016 . Believe all games are at the arena in SAC Town .
Will be interesting to see what Aztec Coaches are there and if anyone on this board can provide details .

Best of luck (and skill) to future Aztec Jeremy Hemsley on Friday night.
Note to Ben Kone & Michael Cage: Observe JH very carefully. You will see a guard that you want to play on the same team WITH in college!

I wish I had the chance to watch him play in high school. If someone goes and gives a synopsis I'd be thrilled

Televised??
Edit: All games are being televised on Time Warner, although I could only find the Damien game delayed until the 1st.

Damien plays tomorrow (Friday) at 4pm at Haas Pavilion (UC Berkeley)... I may have to leave the office early to head over there and check JH out. Edit: Was hoping to catch Kawhi play a number of years ago at Arco in Sacramento, but his team didn't make it. Ended up watching Westchester play... and was introduced to this cat that could JUMP out of the building... Dwayne Polee!

I've got my ticket for today and should be able to get to UC Berkeley in time to catch the entire Damien game. Will provide my (non-expert) thoughts on JH when I get home later tonight (I may stay for the later games as well). Thinking of heading back tomorrow to watch Cage Jr play as well.

Hemsley will have an excellent opportunity to demonstrate to Kone & Cage how well he gets the ball to Bigs for easy buckets.

Just got home from the Damien game... a few thoughts:
Damien was the far superior team physically and athletically. They could have done just about anything they wanted to tonight. Which meant for the first 3 quarters jacking up terrible 3 pointers and keeping Campolindo in the game. Damien should have won by 30+.
Tough to take away anything really meaningful as far as JH is concerned... he was guarded, for the most part, by a kid ~ 5'4" 140 lbs (soaking wet). JH could have easily scored 40+ if he was as selfish as his teammates were (#23 for Damien had no shame in jacking up terrible shot after terrible shot).
A few things that did stand out:
1) JH needs to work on defensive stance. He had no problem staying in front of the Campo guards but he was constantly bent over at the waist and leaning way too far forward. Won't get away with that in college.
2) JH had a breakaway late in the game that was whistled dead at half-court on a ticky-tack touch foul. JH continued the play and flushed it home with 2 hands... it was impressive for a 6'4" guard. He is certainly a fantastic athlete.
3) In the first half, JH was underneath the basket, ran off a baseline screen to the left wing/baseline, caught the pass, did a reverse-pivot/dropstep to square up to the basket and drained the 3. Very solid play and bodes well for the future!
4) In the secondhalf, JH was on the right wing and went baseline to rub his defender off a screen, but his defender fought over the top of the screen. JH flattened back out to the corner, caught the pass and drained the open 3. It was a big-time play and something I never would have expected from a high school team/player.
Fish, Dutch and Velasquez were at the game. Had a chance to chat with Dutch for a few seconds at halftime. They'll be at tomorrow night's game to watch Cage play. Got to greet Fish, he was in the concourse on his cell phone, he saw me coming and politely shook my hand as I said "Thank you, Coach".

So did JH play more PG or SG or both ?

So did JH play more PG or SG or both ? He predominantly played PG for Damien... but again, absolutely nothing could be learned from this game. He had about 12 inches and 40-50 lbs. on the Campo PG. Damien, as far as I could tell... does not run an offense. JH takes his man off the dribble (tonight, all it took was half a head fake and he was by his defender), the entire defense collapses and he kicks the ball to an open wing (who proceeds to shoot the ball immediately). JH is the only guy on the team who looks to pass the ball. If you had no idea who JH was prior to the game... just watching tonight's game... you could easily tell he was BY FAR the most talented player on the court. He almost looked bored at times tonight. He's got a chance to be REAL GOOD. Will be fun to see him on the court with Malik, Z and Shep (hopefully).

If WS does not comeback this could be a very young group . could have TK , KZ , JH , MS. DW at guards . Forwards MP , ZC , DA , BJ forwards , with only seniors SS/AC at the 5/C . Very talented ,athletic but not much experience . different style of offense that could be fun to watch but on the job learning . Similar to UNLV last year but having the Aztec coaching staff
