I agree Shep would be much better off coming back next year . Get his degree and probably get drafted. Here's 5 guys that are coming back for their senior year. Perry Ellis Kansas Marcus Page UNC Caleb Tarczewski AZ Alex Poythress Kentucky Tony Parker UCLA No shame in staying 4 years.

The PAC has really improved in their recruiting of the top 150 HS recruits. 17 % of the top 150 HS recruits . MW has 5%, with out the Rebels and Aztecs only 1%. You wonder why MW keeps slipping as a quality conference .

The PAC has really improved in their recruiting of the top 150 HS recruits. 17 % of the top 150 HS recruits . MW has 5%, with out the Rebels and Aztecs only 1%. You wonder why MW keeps slipping as a quality conference . There are more conferences than just the MW and P12. Recruiting ebb & flows all the time, depending on the level of HS talent within the region. The P12 has done the same. How many top 150 HS recruits has the WCC had, yet they were better than us last year, but worse at times prior. How about the AAC? MVC? Others?
Another factor to keep in mind is many of those top 150 HS recruits turnover quickly, so in 2-3 years they're dependent on the quality of the next classes, whereas the MW, WCC, etc., are more about how experienced the teams are and how much they can develop talent.
The difference between the MW & conferences like the WCC is more about the strengths of the teams at the top and the bottom of the conference. The WCC had a very strong Gonzaga team, whereas we were dragged down by a very bad SJSU team. That will change from year to year and will have a bigger impact on the perceived strength of the MWC much more so than our ability to land top 150 recruits year in & year out. The MW, despite this 5%, will be MUCH improved next year top to bottom and not solely based on UNLV landing Zimmerman, etc., and us landing Hemsley.

5-star Rasheed Sulaimon told ESPN that he’s been contacted by more than a dozen schools including Arizona State, Baylor, Colorado, George Washington, Houston, LSU, Maryland, Memphis, Oklahoma State, Seton Hall, SMU, Texas, Texas Southern and Texas A&M. He was kicked off the Duke team for undisclosed reasons. The press has reported sexual assault charges.

VCU freshman guard Terry Larrier will transfer, a former Top-40 4-star recruit out of high school, the 6-8 Larrier averaged 6.6 points and 3.0 rebounds last season as a freshman. He shot 34%, 26% from 3, but hit 71% from the line.
Highly recruited out of HS at 6'8 175, he will be a hot target for the Fall.

Know he was mentioned in a Ziegler article, looks like Indiana transfer Max Hoetzel setting up a visit...

Larrier (wing-2 or 3) could be very intriguing if there was mutual interest. He would look to be a terrific fit and take the "slot" emptied by Keith Smith's backing off his commitment.
Hoetzel (stretch-4) could also be a nice pickup, a PF who can shoot would be a nice addition.

It's amazing to me how many lines UNLV seems to always have in the water these days. Between offers out to high school kids, and transfer interests, it's gotta be in the 40+ range. How do he do it, mon?

Is Max a 6'8' 220 lbs. freshman 2014-15 ,that would red shirt 2015-16 season , with 3 to play . As mentioned there are now numerous guys hitting the waiver/transfer wire now .
So much of the recruiting of transfers or HS recruiting is about your connections through AAU . The Rebels are very well connected , Do not think the Aztecs are that connected , used to be T. Bland . Fisher / Dutcher have the connections / good relations with current coaches . Not sure where Hutson gets most of his leads .

Okonoboh's PT will probably be cut back this year with Zimmerman, so he'll definitely be a guy who sticks around 3 maybe 4 years, so they'd have a chance to play together again and given the turnover at UNLV he'd probably be assured PT in 2016-2017 season.
Think we could offer the same, except seems to me he & Zylan would be fighting for PT against each other although I'd sure we'd make it work to have both on the floor.
If PT is what the kid wants seems Rice would be the obvious choice. He'd get lots of looks there!
Seems like a good pick-up though, if we have the extra space.
Still hoping for NN first though!

It doesn't hurt that two of the highest rated prep programs in the country are in LV (Findley and Bishop Gorman)...nothing like playing in your backyard to get attention (additionally all of the schools outside the area coming to to LV to play those aforementioned schools)

After this 2015-16 season . Aztecs lose Shepard, Spencer , Chol and most likely Malik . So quality reloading for 2016 is the priority . Have Zylan , BJ and D. Allen as forwards & centers . So we need at least 3 guys for the forwards & Centers . Nolan Narain would be the first priority if he is considering reclassify to 2015 and the need to hold at least one scholarship now for him.. Then is it either .... Cage , Koen , Stanback, Bailey , or Who are actual guys we can verbal/sign. Do they take a transfer that sits 2015 ,then is ready for 2016 ? Is a signee / transfer now better then hope we can sign one of the hopefuls for 2016 ? Being on someone's list is ok but only SIGNING some guys means anything . So there are a lot of moving parts . Most of the 2016 guys are playing in AAU events , trying to raise their evaluations.

Washington transfer Nigel Williams-Goss will transfer to Gonzaga.. The 6-foot-3 guard is a former McDonald’s All-American and will have to sit out the 2015-16 season.

You guys have it all wrong. We need a very good 5th year PG next season or we will be average at best for 2016. Absolutely! A good PG sets up open shots for his teammates, which increases FG percentage. That is what was missing from last year's squad.
