Winston Shepard is one of my all time favorite Aztecs. Despite the ups and downs on the court and despite the amount of criticism he takes on this board, he is such a great representative of our school. He has the ultimate confidence in himself, but doesn't come off as a dick (see the new Christian Laetner 30 for 30). Everyone should listen to this interview and be thankful that we've got a guy like this in our program. www.youtube.com/watch?v=-t37THmNau0&feature=youtu.be

Poor Winston hears 3 years of "You suck!" "You suck!" "You suck!" -- and at the end of each season...
DON'T LEAVE!!

Damn he is a good interview. It is a great reminder that no matter how maddening the play can be on the court at times, these men are fantastic ambassadors for SDSU and I am proud to call them Aztecs for Life. Keep that in mind the next time you are bitching about his play on AztecMesa.

If Shep comes back as does Pope, they'll be a great tandem. They're both good passers with court vision. With Cheatham in the mix, Shepard could slide into the SG position. Unfortunately for Kell, I don't see him staying a PG. Anyway, that's next year. We have St. John's to take care of.

I like the part where he talks about others that leave early and how they don't have a college degree to fall back on if/when their basketball careers are over.

Man, hearing that interview just makes your heart swell up with Aztec pride. Pride in how much Winston has matured on - and most importantly - off the court.
Just two years ago, as a freshman, in interviews Winston would throw in a "ya know what I mean" at least one time a sentence. Now he is a grounded, spiritual, well-spoken, mature young man. A man who will be a success in wherever life takes him.
We are so blessed that Winston Shepard made the choice to be an Aztec for Life.

I made it a point to approach his father in Las Vegas at the MWC to tell him what a fine man Winston is growing up to be. Shepard's leadership of the Aztec's is trending stronger and stronger as is his talent. I think he will be back next year, and teamed with Pope, Cheatham and Kell the Aztecs will have another fantastic year.

I've heard him 5 or 6 times on the radio and every time I have been impressed with how polite and well spoken he is.

That would be awesome if he came back. I would like to see him develop his offensive game... a lot.

It's such a shame that Coach Fisher doesn't care about offense and that players don't develop under his guidance. . .
oh wait
Winston Shepard
2012-2013 as freshman FG% - 39.3 3PT% - 25.0 FT% - 57.6
2014-2015 FG% - 41.2 3PT% - 32.1 FT% - 66.2

If The Aztecs can beat St J and Duke . Believe the next game at Houston , Winston's home area ? If WS has a very good MM , do not be totally surprised if he does look at going pro , or if his family needs the money or if he has had enough of going to school. Do hope he realizes how much he and the team , would benefit from him coming back. He would be the vocal senior leader on and off the court . If he could help the Aztecs go deep ,would help his draft opportunities. Maybe Fisher could try to schedule an OOC game at Houston next year also or near by .

Will be interesting to hear what WS decides to do for the 2015-16 season . we could use his leadership and all around ability to play going into the 15-16 season . If we could go for a decent run could help put WS back into the mix for being an NBA draft pick . Believe he has until April 10 th or 15th to decide ? If we have forwards WS , MP , ZC and DA could be some very exciting moments. Understand he tries to compare himself with HS team mate Bennett , but he has not been a world beater ( does have the contract ) , also Avery at Arizona will make a decision about the draft . So will watch to see what happens .
