College baseball, nobody cares. I'll revise my statement: College baseball, six people care. Yes, because a few people responding within 24 hours on a message board is the true measure. Got it.

I'll revise my statement: College baseball, six people care. Yes, because a few people responding within 24 hours on a message board is the true measure. Got it. The statement applies to college baseball in general, not just SDSU. Is this really even debatable? The average attendance for the top drawing team was 10k. Most top twenty schools only average 3k per game. The TV ratings ate laughable. So yeah, nobody cares.

Think again slick Baseball attendance listed on SDSU official site 10 games this season. 8 games with posted attendance Valparaiso 2519 Valparaiso 653 Valparaiso 782 Loyola Marymount 449 UC Riverside 502 UC Riverside None Listed 0 San Diego 559 San Jose State None Listed 0 San Jose State 542 San Jose State 682 Total 6684 Take out opening day 7 games to date total 4169 Womens Basketball attendance listed last 8 games on SDSU official site last 8 games posted San Jose State 711 New Mexico 411 Boise State 1538 Nevada 603 Colorado State 643 Air Force 362 Wyoming 341 Fresno State 517 Total 5126 Take out Fresno game to total last 7 games same as baseball Total 4609
LOL Taking out opening day for baseball and women's basketball actually beats baseball.. Yea so your right saying "no it does not" in that baseball does not even match women's basketball
Give the women a penis and they would be men. Makes about as much sense as your unnecessary removal of baseball's top attended game. If you are going to argue a statement with facts, don't spin off certain important parts of it because it doesn't support yours. Utilize all of the data given. I would ask you, to utilize complete data. What was the average attendance of last season's women's basketball and baseball games? I have a feeling you still may prove your point since there wasn't a Tony Gwynn game last year, but let's see true data. Your use of stats above is more inane than anything I've seen bill do. I did include baseballs top attended game in the first total. Reading comprehension 101 is a good class take it. If you want to find/study last seasons numbers have at it. I don't have the time, but I would guess it's around the same sorry number for the both.

College baseball, nobody cares. You're not wrong about anything you've said. But you are trolling the people who care about it and for what pay off? Not calling you a troll in general, I just don't understand what you're out to prove. That those who care about SDSU (college) baseball shouldn't care about it? Shouldn't discuss it? Shouldn't be excited that others may support a winning team?

For those passionate baseball fans 11-1, SDSU is now ranked # 27!
GO AZTECS!

Off to a great start (really should be 12-0, but I understand dropping a game here and there in the game of baseball), competition gets a little stiffer the next x=couple of games. UC Irvine tonight in the OC.

I like following the baseball team, I think a quality team could attract a 1K fans a night to the park. Tickets are like $6 per game and the food is actually damn good. Slices of Pizza the size of your head, pulled pork, grilled hotdogs. Add in a lot of coeds, must be dating the players, and you have yourself a good night at the park. But it does not make any money for the AD.
This team is quality, because they don't kick it around in the field. Good teams in college baseball play good fundamental defense. Great Teams play great defense and put the ball in play. In college baseball it is all about putting pressure on the opposing defense and pitcher. So people should check it out and take their kids, it beats going to the Padre Games for 10x the prices only for your kids to be bored or chasing butterflies.
The Aztec Baseball team is vastly more enjoyable to watch than most women's sports. But HS baseball and college baseball is not very popular and is not very important in the grand scheme of things. Football and then Men's Basketball are the motors of the department.
But let's dump hyperbole into the thread, there is a small community that likes to follow college baseball. It is relevant, but it is not vastly popular or as important to the University as Football and Men's basketball. With that said, come out and have a huge slice of pie and wonder what all the single coeds are doing at the park on Friday night.

With such a unique take, I'm a quite glad you shared it. My point was that your opinion is not particularly important. You're just dumping on the baseball fans for no particular gain.

Minor league baseball makes college baseball insignificant.
Title IX doesn't help since players only get 1/3 of a scholarship. When players are ready for draft, even a late round, they go. That is because it costs money to play college baseball.
The other problem is weather. College baseball can't play in summer since school is out. So they wedge it in during very bad weather times, especially elsewhere.
Baseball minor leagues demonstrates the true value of college players, in all sports. Close to ZERO. If all the players in college football quit and started their own leagues, player salaries would be close to minimum wage - like minor league baseball.
If MLB would kill 3 levels (Rookie, A, A+) of minor leagues, NCAA players would get full scholarships, and they played in better weather, maybe baseball would be better attended and more important.

It gives a comparative advantage to CA and the south. And college baseball is still pretty darn popular in the SE. But yeah, for the most part, college baseball isn't a well-attended thing. But it is always a good time, for low-cost.

I know we'll be heading out when it gets a little warmer (we've got baby to think of). I agree it's a really great deal. Very affordable and entertaining. I actually prefer the softball games because it seems to move a little quicker and the ladies cheers and yells keep it very entertaining, but baseball does the trick just as well.
I only wish they could make paying for parking more convenient than the machine. It's got a line 15 yards deep every time I go.

To each his own, nothing to be gained bagging on someone's passion for baseball, hockey or lacrosse. Let's see how well The AZTECS run goes and if they do well in the NCAA's. A CWS is most likely improbable but it sure wouldn't hurt and would create some excitement around The MESA!
GO AZTECS! GO TOLERATE!

My grad school did, and I can't tell you how much fun that was. It was like March Madness, but with tailgating and your team played there!

College baseball, nobody cares. I'll revise my statement: College baseball, six people care. Hey Lath, Please go back and find and comment on threads about sports where you have passion. You don't care about Aztec baseball. No worries. No need for comparison with other sports. Who cares if women's basketball draws more fans or less fans? They draw folks who are passionate about women's basketball. It isn't a competition between Aztec teams -- the competition is between SDSU and our college opponents. Honestly, I don't understand why people want to throw spitballs at any Aztec team on this board. Every guy/gal who is playing is doing their very best to win and, perhaps more importantly, represent our college in the sport of their choice. We fans, are doing our best to follow and support the teams of our choice. Personally, happy to be included in one of SIX who care about SDSU baseball. Jeepers. Beachalum SDSU 1976, 1977
