Hoping this son of an NBA player turns out to be as good as Larry Nance's son!

Hoping this son of an NBA player turns out to be as good as Larry Nance's son! How about Michael's son MJ Cage. Let's make it 2 for 2. Dwayne Polee had some NBA DNA as well.

Anyone know the prognosis and timeline for his return?
Seattle Times earlier this month: "...Rainier Beach wing Keith Smith is out for the season with a torn meniscus in his right knee, according to Vikings coach Mike Bethea. Smith, a 6-foot-7 junior who scored 18.5 points per game in 10 contests this season, has major interest from Division I schools, including an offer from Washington.
“It’s unfortunate,” Bethea said. “Not so much the team, of course you think about the team, you think about the young man. What he’s been going through. It’s kind of tough. He’s in good spirits, he’s upbeat, he’s there cheering his teammates on every day in practice. It’s not like he’s checked out or anything. Actually, kind of an inspiration to his teammates.”
Smith felt a pop in his knee during the first half of a win against Eastside Catholic on Jan. 13., and hasn’t played since...."

They typically say 6 months for running; 8-9 months for competitive sports.
He said in his tweet he was skipping the Summer AAU circuit altogether, but believe it's anticipated he'll play next fall for RB. He should be in good shape come October/November.
Hope he's healthy & participating by next fall as scheduled; don't want another Pope situation where he hadn't played for 2 seasons & was really rusty.

Couple of interesting notes in the article . President H was involved in the recruiting , for those who think he does not care about sports , Aztec coaches do a good job of evaluating who may be an influence when you are recruiting players , in this case his parents. Also as the coaches have said , many times it is the current players who end up saying the most to recruits about the program, that is what smart recruits want to know , especially from the freshman . Very happy to hear that Zabo , Zylan , Pope , Kell are pleased with the program since none of them have gotten a lot of PT this year.

www.youtube.com/watch?v=Je9jOiP_B2QI believe this is the same Keith Smith....he shows up third in the video. Please correct me if I'm wrong. He has a very smooth shooting stroke.

After chatting with him for a while they realized his grandpa & he knew each other really well, so he hit it off well with the whole family. : )
Bottom line - the kid felt at home with the other players, the coaches & even the administration, and that'll sell a lot of kids. And, as they said, get the mom's vote & you're almost there.

Good character class a few years running. Can't wait to see Pope & Z together.

Pope not playing for 2+ years is likely one of the reasons he ended up here. Blessing in disguise.

2016-17 is shaping up to be a monster season for us. Roster is shaping up to look like the following:
Matt Shrigley - Sr Dakarai Allen - Sr D'Erryl Williams - Sr
Trey Kell - Jr Kevin Zabo - Jr Malik Pope - Jr but probably gone by then
Zylan Cheatham - So Jeremy Hemsley - So Brodricks Jones - So
Keith Smith - Fr MJ Cage - Fr wish list Vance Jackson - Fr wish list Brandon Cyrus - Fr wish list

That would be one heck of a lineup.

I'm positive we'll have someone transfer in after this season, sit out next year, then play in that 2016-2017 season.

Hopefully it's a PF since we'd be a bit thin up front in that projected roster.

Hopefully the Aztecs will have their choice from Kentucky's inventory.

Hopefully the Aztecs will have their choice from Kentucky's inventory. I think you are confusing the Aztecs with the NBA.

Unless we get a grad transfer for 2015 -16 season , similar to what Davis was last year, a regular transfer means 1 less recruit for 2016 and what we think our chances are for actually getting the guys you mention for 2015. Would guess it all depends on how many guys from the current roster come back for 2015 and 2016 seasons .

That would be one heck of a lineup. It's nice when you have a program is that you can look forward to every year and say "that's going to be a great lineup"! I'm looking forward to next year to see how much this freshman class improves (especially what Pope can do with the rust shaken off), what Cheatham can do, how Hemsley fits in, what the effect of a dedicated basketball facility has, etc.
