I heard from two sources that Dwayne has completed all the medical tests and is cleared to played. He has resumed some activity in practice.
Supposedly, it is now in the hands of lawyers and they are in a stalemate. Anyone else have an update?

Doesn't seem worth the risk.

That is pretty much what the said last night during the game. Showed footage of him taking light practice shots.
Gottlieb said (just his opinion, no inside knowledge) that he doubted lawyers for a state school would let him play no matter what the doctors say.
As anyone who has been sick before, the only thing worse than a diagnosis is not having a diagnosis when you know something is wrong.

Not only is this not worth the risk, it will also interrupt the chemistry of the current rotation. Polee's return will mean less playing time for Allen, Shrigley, and Pope. All three need to see PT to build their confidence and ability on the court.

Quote from Steve Fisher: "I don't know whether he'll be back or not," Fisher said. "We're hopeful he will. He has been given clearance to start under supervision limited activity, which is a good, positive start. He's happy for that. We are also. But whether he'll be back or not, I don't know." "supervision limited activity" is a long way from "cleared to play." It's a very small step in a good direction.

Can you imagine the fallout if they let him play, and it happened again?
I can't imagine that Steve Fisher will send him out there again.

As noted , step in the right direction . The medical group , family , coaches and lawyers will take it from there . times when fans can sit back and relax .

I would believe that the choice will be left up to the Polee family. They know everything, even what the Aztecs might not know.
All the stuff about lawyers may or may not be true. And since its a private matter we may never know if it was something to be worried about or something else altogether.

I say let the man play if Polee and the family agrees to waiver. Polee deserves the chance. Even if it is limited minutes I would live to see polee out on the court again.

He will not play. Otherwise everyone including himself would be holding their breath in sad anticipation of it happening again.

I believe we will see him again; in uniform, on the court and during a game. However, I also believe it will only be at the end of the senior night game where he will be allowed to step on the court, then off and allow me and so many other appreciative Aztec fans show our riotous appreciation for one hell of an Aztec.

Wow. I didn't know thre were so many qualified physicians and diagnostic and/or medical specialists on this board. Or maybe - provided he's been seen by more doctors than Dcotors Without Borders has sent to West Africa and has undergone more tests than were administered in campus classrooms last year - if the doctors say his condition is not life-threatening (i.e., if it were to re-occur, he'd simply have to undergo the same outpatient procedure again), then we can get behind DP and wish for his return to the court?

The good news in all of this, if you can call it that, is that the current Aztec mens basketball team looks pretty darned good even without Polee. I'm thinking that the team still hasn't reached its peak. Good things ahead.
As for DP, let's hope he goes on to great success in whichever direction his life takes him.

When in lawyer's hands, doctors mean nothing!

I don't want to speculate or ponder one way or the other, but I do hope he gets to start on senior night, if only ceremonial, as a worst case scenario.

I would also add I think we're better with DP2 suited up on the bench then we are with him in street clothes.

I'm sure if he does take the court again the family will have had to sign some legal form absolving the school of any responsibility should something happen.

I can't imagine anyone ripping away the last chance for a kid to play the game he loves (except of course slimy lawyers).
I wouldn't want someone making that decision for me.
He's 22 years old - enough to drink, drive, go to war , get married and have a baby but some of you think its a coach's decision?

That's exaxtly it though, the family of Hank Gathers sued 14 defendants (including LMU and the head coach Paul Westhead himself) for a total of $32.5 million! The lawyers of many parties must be involved in what happens to Polee from here and I fear it will take the lawyers longer than March to figure out what they will let him do.
