do not think Utah coach has been building his current team around LDS guys , he has guys from LA , Euros and other places . so would not rule them out . All depends on where he feels he fits . If his girl friend is at Montana ,that may also have a factor . It all depends on where he thinks he will fit in and play.

Mike Collins tweeted - Wow, what a great day for @Zach Collins_33 and family on the Utah Ute campus. Feels like an NBA experience from top to bottom.

Sounds like a very professional tweet of thanks from a mature individual. I wouldn't read too much into it. Sounds like dad is a heck of a classy guy.

Maybe cuz Krystkowiak played & coached in the NBA for a number of years, & he runs his program similar? What or how that is I have no clue. Hmmmm, the more I think about it, the more I have no idea unless there's $$, ladies, & freedom from classes & homework.

As mentioned the recruit and his family have enjoyed all the trips they have been on , then say thank you for the experience to the school and the fans of the school . Every school has a lot to offer , would guess that the family will do all the trips then sit back and go over what school is the best fit for Collins . After watching Skylar's performance against CSU , would guess the Aztecs will make sure whomever they go after to play the 5 position is a strong defender and shot blocker .

I think one of the key kickbacks from SS's strong play of late is kids like Collins seeing how important our big man is & the kind of role he can play moving forward. He sees 9, 6 & 6 & his eyes have to get even bigger. The game he attended his dad pointed out that we do actually use our big man (which was new to them), so the more SS can maintain this momentum the better it looks in the eyes of a big recruit as well! SS (& hopefully Chol) are our 2 biggest recruiters right now.
All that said, I'd have to think Utah is an extremely attractive place to go for any big guy with Larry K coaches. Of course, you'd have to wonder what he's long term plans are? Is they heading back to the NBA eventually for another shot?

would guess the family is gathering all the information they can to see where Collins has the best fit in a variety of ways . Do not know if they have a time line for him signing . Did notice that Mr Collins is watching to see the role the Aztecs use the "5 " position . For most of the season SS has been a shot blocker and ball screener . He has been more involved recently and do hope that continues , it could be a factor for other 5's . Chol has shown spurts of offense , but has been inconsistent . It is important that the Aztec offense does involve the 5 ,if they do want a 5 that also is also a decent portion of the offense . Would guess we want the guy to be very important on D .

Zach Collins is visiting New Mexico this weekend.
The word is that Lobo fans are recycling their "Z" signs, the Lobo mascot has his knee pads out, and their fans are camping out by the Motel 8 hoping to catch a glimpse.

Be sure to take Zach to WisePies so that he can see the largest loblow sponsor. An eye opening comparison to other BBall opportunities.

Gonzaga , Utah sometimes UNM have usually had a guy 6'10 or above involved in their offense , We usually have had an athletic 6 '10 guy , that plays D and some offense . M. Thomas would be the guy that had true offense . We see more from Chol this year and Skylar . It would be nice if we used our 5/C more and less of the three point shooting . That trend has happened and feel our offensive production could continue to grow with it. for this year and going forward if we want to recruit the 5 position.

As soon as we can land a 5 that has some basic ball-handling skill, and who can knock down a shot from 10 to 15+ feet, that 5 will score a lot of points and have plenty of plays run for them.

That is the point , it is not that easy getting a high quality 5/C offensive center to come sign here . Not sure of the last HS guy we have signed that has those qualities . M .Thomas was a transfer , who scored a lot near the basket.. Our offense has usually come from the guards or wings . . with the 5/C , being more of an defender , rebounder , ball screener , who gets points on put backs or dunks . Think it would be helpful if our offense tried to work on trying to incorporate more offense with the center , both now and to help us recruit some going forward.

Anyone know when he us expected to announce his decision? 4 visits in 5 weeks with his last one this Saturday @ Gonzaga...my assumption is that he's looking to make a decision soon based on that but just a guess.
