Tough not to make the comparison, but Malik Pope looked like the second-coming of Kevin Durant last night against Colorado State. I saw him play in HS the summer before he broke his leg and I could see the vast basketball potential. He was skinny then and still is. I am certain he will gain some weight, but with his height, length, athleticism, and skill set, he could be a Top NBA Draft pick within a few years. Pope's break out game against Colorado State may cause Aztecs Coaching Staff to change starting line-up, again. Durant will never be the passer or defender that Pope is . Durant is a scorer and a liability on the defensive end. Not a team player. That's why he will never win a NBA Championship He is not in Kawhi's league. Every basket Durant has ever made is pure luck. He's not even a scorer, he's a bum who lucked his way into 32 ppg, 7,5 rebounds and 5.5 assists last season. He is a poor man's Chris Manker with a lot more luck and zero talent. Finally someone on AztecMesa who sees clearly and can call a spade a spade.

Does anyone want to touch on the fact that Malik is what we've been expecting out of a starting 3 this year? Or how efficient he is when he has a mismatch? Or how he's able to finish more often than not?
Or maybe he's basically an upgrade to the 3 altogether?

It's such a small sample size that it is hard to take much away from the games other than he has lots of upside, before the last 2 games he was woefully inefficient and wasn't rebounding, it's obvious he has upside. But let's calm down with him being the savior of the season.

I haven't see as smooth a player, shooter in quite some time. I even saw him call for the ball a couple time seeing a play he could make a step down the road. Pope is the real deal and should be playing 30 mins a game in my mind.

The MP was on patrol on offense all over the court . But Fisher was not too pleased with his D , when he was playing the 4 position had trouble deciding when to double down low . Standiego's killin' it lately... The D.A. & the MP - lockin' them down and lightin' them up.

I say we call Malik Pope "The Pontiff" The Holy One! And when he makes it rain... The Three Pontiff! Don't care if it's a small sample size, if he might leave early (hope he doesn't), or how he compares to KD (though I see it too)... Simply love this kid and love having him on The Mesa. Favorite type of player, can't wait for him to continue to develop and mature. Go Aztecs! -BRB

Let's elevate him to god-like status after a couple games -- and then crap all over him as soon as we find out he's not perfect... Go back to sleep.
