Do think the coaches do go at least part of the MM weekend for meetings . Some coaches use this time to network for jobs , schedule OOC games , Tournaments , rules , talk with other coaches about players that may transfer in or out ( that is where the staff got the lead on Josh Davis ).so would guess this could be a working and social time for coaches Pleased they talked with NN . Hope there was a connection , either his thoughts about what year he may declare to be a recruit 2015 or 2016 ? Also what he sees as his choice of schools - what are our chances to sign him.

I did read that Fisher was at the Final 4 (at least the semis) as Zeigler mentioned that he gets to be in the row with other coaching legends (due to senority and success). Cool; which article did Ziegler mention that he was there?
I know others from SDSU had plane issues & never made it to Indy.
It was a 'sidebar' type column that had other final four short stories. Probably Sunday.

Would be interesting to try to find out if any of our coaches had an opportunity to talk with NN at MM , and see what he is planning Are you sure our coaching staff even went to Indy? I don't think they did unless it was Dutch. Fish met with players all day Tuesday & all were at the banquet by 6. Guess they could have gone to the semi's...
They're in contact with NN, so I'm sure they have a handle on him. : )
I asked Dave V. Tues night if he got to go to the FF and he did.

I'd say it is 50/50 between us and Gonzaga. He has taken an offial visit for both but SDSU was recent (March) while I think Gonzaga was in December. His reclassfying 2015 may hurt his chances with SDSU as we only have 1 scholorship left and there are A LOT of good transfers (either 5th year than can play right away or D1 Sophs that would sit out and play the following 2 years) that SDSU should be in the running for. In 2016 we would have 3 available (after Keith Smith's committment) assuming Pope leaves. Long-term it would be better to take Narian this year and redshirt him, but that means not getting help this coming year.

If the staff id as confident in Hemsley as is apparently the case, Narain should be the #1 target, IMO. And no, he wouldn't redshirt next season.

If WS and DA come back at forwards . We have WS, MP, ZC , DA , BJ (also could red shirt) 80 minutes between 4 to 6 guys should cover it, Narain 6'10" should be the priority he has 5 years to play to play 4 ( some have said he may want to red shirt ). He has played on the Canadian team , HS team in Indiana - plays some center that we will need in 2016 . If either WS , DA, NN say no to 2015 with the Aztecs, then MT- 6'9" the grad transfer from San Francisco that some are saying is very good.
JH , KZ , DW , TK , MS can take care of the guard situations . JH is a quality PG .
The coaches are at MM for a variety of coaches meetings , do a lot of the behind the scenes work there , since almost all the coaches in America are there .

Apparently HE has said he wants to RS and we'd let him. Huh, well then... Interesting. Yeah, if it's what he wants... sure, but I'd bet he also might change his mind. Electively RS'ing in hoops just doesn't make much sense these days. Regardless of RS or not, he'd still be the #1 target in my book.

But RSing bigs is a little more common than guards, and it'd give him a chance to fill out while practicing against SS and AC. He could be 4 year starter in that scenario. Agree, if we only have 1 spot and he's game, he'd be my pick. Like his potential.

Some really good, thoughtful stuff here.
My concern is we really REALLY need scoring help this coming season. Otherwise, we are going to see an offensively challenged replay of last season.
Even Fish said this for public consumption. He would never say something like this in the past, IMO. The fact that he said it to Z means, to me, that we are going to land a 5th year transfer that fills that void next season- someone like Mark Tollefson would fit that need perfectly- IF - we can get him. Tollefson is even more prized at Cal and UofA with recent developments at both, so getting him to the Mesa will be no small feat.
I think if we can land him or someone comparable, this screaming need gets filled- over Narain -who won't play much, if at all, next season. With a Tollefson or comparable, our Aztecs are on another level.
VERY tough potential decision(s) for coaching staff.

Would you take a 5th year Sr. Mark Tollefsen or a RS Fresman Nolan Narain? We have one spot left. (Unless Shep leaves.)

I would take MT for this upcoming year and Michael Cage Jr for 2016 Seriously though, it's a tough call(some say it's not) and let coach decide.....How's that for playing it safe and not sticking my neck out? If you are thinking long term, I guess NN would be the pick and for possible immediate gratification next season, I like MT around the hoop and shooting it for offensive improvement. Both are good things for the program IMO.But do we really have a GOOD chance at NN?

Do not Shep et al have to announce their intentions on declaring for the NBA soon?

Has this guy decided if he is going to reclassify to 2015 yet? Seems like it is really late in the process to still be deciding this. If he is going with the Aztecs it would be much better if he waits until next year.

April 26 deadline for declaring for the draft I think that Shep comes back, Page is returning to UNC, Gathers at Baylor, Tarzcewski at Zona, Poythress at Kentucky, Wiltjer Zags and Payton II at OSU. These guys are late 1st and second rounders.

If only 1 spot left - meaning Shep returns - then I'd take NN (if he reclassifies). Also assumes no one else leaves. I like how it balances the classes, and gives us a really strong recruit inside at the post. Good for program long term, and think with an upgraded Pope, WS, Kell, Shrigs, etc., and adding Cheatum & Hemsley we'll be fine offensively.
If Shep doesn't return and/or someone else leaves, then it opens the door for both.
IMO the best scenario is we get both & someone outside of WS decides to leave, although I think this is an unlikely scenario.

Something isn't adding up, I just can't see us taking narain to redshirt in 2015 without someone else leaving, Fish isn't exactly hiding the need for a scorer next year.

He's said we need to find someone who can score, but he's also said that person could come within the ranks & simply making themselves better.

Immediate possible scorers: WS3, MP, ZC, TK, MS and JH.
I still want 10-15 PPG from SS & AC.
Possible improved scorers: DA, DW & KZ
May need development: BJ.
ADD: Dylan Ennis and or Tollefson.
Lots of potential for scoring!
