how do you not run a play or let the guys that are a combined 15/18 shooting get a shot down the stretch?! Fisher has no control of his teams during the game. No one on this team knows where to look for guidance down the stretch. We're probably the only team in the ncaa with a "coach in waiting" and to make matters worse he's been that for what seems like 4 seasons. Our head coach and coach and coach in waiting are going to be ex coach and ex coach in waiting when the fan base gets fed up with the lack of preparation. Take two shots of vodka and a Quaalude and call me in the morning.

So what do you do put the ball in the hands of your fifth year seniors JJ and AQ for the last few shots and FT's or your hot shooters MP and MS or were they having problems getting open.? AQ had 10 points but was 3 of 12 - 0 for 6 on threes, only 1 assist played over 32 minutes- need a PG that can really distribute the ball . JJ hit some of his twisters but clutched on FT's and outside shot . Same problem Zeigler has said all year who is our go to guy or guys ?

So many superlatives to describe how good Pope is - and how good he will be. My favorite thing about Malik's game is his aggressive "dunk first - layup/tip-in second" mentality when he is close to the basket. Am thinking this mentality will become contagious to the team as Pope's playing time increases. The Pontiff just may be that "go to guy" we all have been waiting for to emerge this season... THIS. I'm not gonna even go there as to how frustrating it is to not see this as often as we should. Throw it down and get your two flippin points. Stop trying to draw the foul. I get why you do it...but the foul is going to happen if you go up strong anyways.

Pope's slam flushes, or flushslams, are just beautiful. Some of his team mates should be taking lessons from him.
Really authoritative! He is on his way to establishing dominance.

I think because we don't have a go to guy this year the answer is we go to the hot hand! Isn't that basketball 101? Regardless who it is? We should have been running plays for MS and MP the last 4 mins! If they each had 3 more shots we win the game. For those who thought they weren't fighting hard enough to get open watch again, when AQ starting dribbling the ball too much they both were open.

For those who thought they weren't fighting hard enough to get open watch again, when AQ starting dribbling the ball too much they both were open. This! The job of the PG isn't to be the "go to guy" down the stretch. IT happened to be X last year, but it's not necessary. The job of a PG is to understand the game, and know WHO should be getting the ball when it counts. You had Shrigs & Pope both with an incredibly hot hand, and JJ was virtually unstoppable. Our issues was not missing a "go to guy" at ALL. Our problem was our PG didn't understand the game. He ran 2-man with JJ (which is great), and I don't even mind him taking his floating 5 footers (as those are very high % shots). It was taking the other shots and not looking to options 1-3 BEFORE taking those shots.
It's poor decision making; it isn't about not having a "creating" point guard, or not having a "go to guy". It's the hot hand who is your Go-to guy, and we had 3. We actually had TOO MANY go to guys, which is rare for us. Unfortunately, they didn't get it when we needed it most.

You are correct, one of the PG's job this year , is being a good facilitator getting the ball to the hot hand or open guy , to make a shot . good decision making, in the last game, 3 for 12 and 0 for 6 on threes . AQ is a spark but not doing it as the facilitator, maybe 1 assist a game , playing over 30 minutes is not always doing what is needed , so that role has shifted to JJ . We also tried TK but as most agree he is a SG also . We now have AQ , MS , TK and MP as SG's . Lack back up at PF on D unless that becomes Shepard . IMO either DW or KZ deserve an opportunity against Fresno , USU and Nevada .
