We have 21 commits, only 7 are 3 stars and above. Whereas Boise has 14 commits of which 8 are 3 stars and above. That's how you go to the Fiesta Bowl. Scout is a MUCH better recruiting service IMO, especially on the west coast, and here's a clearer picture:
- SDSU ranks #76 nationally with 18 total recruits, including 11 3-stars - Boise is #60 with 14 3-star or higher recruits (1 4-star - Ryp Jr) - Only 3 non-P5 schools are ranked in the top 60 overall (West Mich, Cincy & BSU), and the gap between 60 & our 76 is minor. There are a lot of errors made in recruiting services when you look at 2-star & even 3-star recruits, which represents virtually ALL of the recruits among non-P5 schools. - We rank 3rd in our conference, but SJSU is only ranked higher due to volume of recruits (26 vs. our 18) - We rank in the top 10 among ALL non-P5 schools but only 1 other school has less than 20 recruits listed. As the classes fill ranking will most likely shift. Most (5) of the 9 ahead of us are in the MAC.
We're not BSU. Our fan base doesn't support the team, either via donations and/or via attendance, anywhere close to what theirs do. If you want the top recruiting class then get another 2000+ fans to donate to the Aztec club!
We're also not an elite school or program by any measure, and if you think we're going to recruit consistently against the P5 schools in this day & age of big $$ & new facilities & benefits you're oblivious to reality.

According to Scout we are ranked lower than FAU, Miami of Ohio, South Florida, SMU, SJSU, Toledo and teams like that. That's not good. Not that recruiting rankings really mean anything anyway. Just to the record on the field. And we know which way that's trending. 9-4, 8-5, 7-6.

Bull Crap you go to the Fiesta bowl by having an adequate QB. We lost by nine points in Boise with no Qb. Rivals is not the only ranking a lot of theses guys are rated three stars by 247 and Espn, and Scout we have beaten Boise two out of the last three years.Next yeat the QB spot which was weak now has Jake Rod. 4*,Chapman 3*,Adam Wood walk on 3*, Agnew 3*,and Max Smith 3*. I do no think our wr are great but otherwise we have a lot of talent coming back. oline is strong,we are loaded at rb adn qB has been fixed. Dline is soklid Barett, Sanchez, Heywood,Ricks as pass rusher an Dakota Turner. The linbackers should be fine. The dbs excellent,

Every team you listed is only ranked ahead of us only due to numbers, not quality. A team with 22-23 listed recruits even with lower ratings will rank higher than teams with 18 recruits, even if their average rating is higher. The fact to list SJSU above us is simply naive. SDSU has higher rated recruits, on average, than nearly every non-P5 school. Top 5-6. There's still a lot of time for change and the rankings will continue to evolve. They do daily. as for the record, how many of those same teams you listed have done better than SDSU over the past 3 years? The negativity and desire of some to flame our own team never ceases to amaze me. Sad.

W/ all the success they've had in the last 10 years, they still can't truly recruit with the big boys. If we had that success, we'd be getting plenty of 3* and 4* guys.

I don't think so. This year over 50% their commits are 3 and 4 stars whereas only one third of our commits are of that type. we are way behind Boise as to quality of recruits. They go to the Fiesta Bowl and we get to play Navy in some crappy no name bowl in SD. Please, give me Boise any day

How many 4* recruits are going to choose a G5 school if they get an offer from a P5 school ? Unless there are particular circumstances most HS guys are going to go to the P5 school .

I don't think we are way behind Boise in recruits. It depends on which source you look at, but on the one I looked at they have 10 3 stars and 1 4 star, where we have 11 3 stars. They are marginally better at best. If you look at the last several years we have been creeping up on them in recruiting. If we have a little more success on the field I think in a couple of years we will be ahead of them. If you notice they aren't getting numbers of 4 stars even with all their success on the field, because standiego is correct it is very difficult for a G5 school to get one if he is offered by a P5 school. Our only hope there is to get into a P5 conference. If we did you would see an immediate big jump in recruiting.

The recruiting and Development of QB's has been a major problem at SDSU for the last X amount of years . Not sure who has taken ownership of the problem . We have had 2 HC's in the last 6 years , is it 4 OC's , Sipe as QB coach . Want to be known as a smash mouth RB team . Time to realize, you are not going to get far without a quality QB, some one needs to take ownership for the QB's and that We want to be known as a school that is being led by its QB . All starts with the QB then OL and DL that control the lines of scrimmage . It is not the scheme that matters but the players who can execute . Throw , run , block ,tackle , catch the ball and defend.

When your best QB is a weak arm JUCO walk on you haven't done your job. He isn't a good recruiter and stubborn is what he will run, a pro set. He is stuck in the 80's

I think all of us hope that the QB's here now this spring are the start of something good . transfers , hold overs and even HS recruit are the answer . We will hear about it this spring then proof will be on the field this fall .

The recruiting part of the reason Boise State went to the Fiesta Bowl was recruiting from 4 and 5 years ago. Back then there was a huge difference in our recruiting. It has closed significantly since.

All depends on the Production of the recruits/transfers . Key for me is the production we get from the QB's on 2015.

You're apparently still stuck in 1992.
BTW, missing on a couple QBs & "not recruiting any for 3 years" are two completely different things, but hopefully you knew that. Missing on players isn't uncommon, especially among tier 2 schools. Some QB's excel despite hardly anyone wanting them (Fajardo, Grayson), while others flop despite everyone wanting them (Heaps). Jeffries was pretty well sought after (Oregon State, Utah offers); Morin was more than worth the gamble. They all don't work out. All I know is we have a 4-star who signed with Oregon, a senior transfer from Kentucky & some pretty well regarding young kids battling for the spot, which is a good spot to be in.
