Here's my top 5 for visitors... - Luche Libre Gourmet Tacos on Washington
- Las Cuatro Milpas for lunch, cash only spot in Barrio Logan. The line tells you how good it is.
- Point Loma Seafoods - For that "right off the boat" fresh fish experience
- Urban Solace in North Park, if you want a nice meal. True North is a great bar next door, they share a kitchen with Urban Solace, real deal food for a bar.
- C Level & Island Prime (same building, 2 ends of the same restaurant) for the best lunch + happy hour views on the freaking planet
I'd be happy to do lunch or dinner with you guys on 2/11 if you wanted. I bet we could probably get a little meet-up going. Adam Helluva list. No argument here. And you already have Hodad's covered.

C level is lunch only. Island prime is dinner.
Tom Hams believe it or not has a decent lunch now and dinner. Great views of downtown.
Carnitas snack shack had a terrible food poisoning incident not too long ago.
Oceanaire in San Diego although a chain is still one of the best restaurant in San Diego.
Con pane in liberty station is the best sandwich place period.

Are you the officiating crew from the CSU game? If so, Ruth Chris is in Del Mar and there is always Donovans!

Best Deli - DZ Akin's in La Mesa Best Mexican - Fidel's in Solana Beach Best Burger - In N Out Burger (countywide) Best Casual Breakfast - Pipe's Cafe in Cardiff I love In N Out but Rocky's is better..... and probably the best Burger in San Diego. It's just a small bar w/ age restrictions, limited close parking and elbow to elbow but what a great burger.

Thank you all very much for the recs! I'm glad I've got a couple of weeks to sort through them all. Just got home from my nephew's birthday party... guess I'm glad I missed the game tonight. Though I am intrigued by Pope's stat line...

Con Pane is solid for sandwiches but not going to give it best sandwich place period. Board and Brew in Del Mar is worth the wait in line.

Most of the suggestions has been spot on. I really like The Patio on Goldfinch in Mission Hills.

Is the restaurant in the Hotel Del any good, other than probably being overpriced?

Is the restaurant in the Hotel Del any good, other than probably being overpriced? I've only had drinks and apps at the outside bar area by the beach. Overpriced, but typical of a hotel bar area. And you can't beat the view. It's a place to discuss a deal for me. But deals get closed at the other places.

Pacific Coast Grill for great view and food, albeit overpriced.
Cucina Enoteca for good food and even better cougar viewing.
Rudy's in Solana beach for Carne asada and breakfast burritos.
Baci on morena for italian.

I've been to cuatros milpas 3 times and actually been able to eat only once. That's how ridiculously good it is.

Alta Marea on Cass street in PB, just west of the library. Truly excellent Italian food at reasonable prices. Best gnocchi I have ever tasted , by far! BYOB. So, get a decent bottle of wine and send a glass to the chef/owner---a very recent jovial immigrant from Northern Italy.
Also good pizza.

Though I am intrigued by Pope's stat line... Pizza Nova on Harbor Drive has a variety of quality salads and pasta dishes. Reasonably priced and right on the embarcadero near sport fishing piers so a walk after meal is interesting. One of our favs. Also, Jimmie's is about 100 yards down the walkway for a quality burger.

Some repeats on my list and a couple not mentioned yet. 1) Carnitas Snack Shack. Seriously just do it. I actually haven't been but too many of my most reliable foody's rave about it. It will be happening for me in the next couple weeks. I hear the triple threat samdwich is a must. 2) Bluewater Seafood. Best fish tacos in town. 3) South Beach Bar and Grille. Across the street from Hodad's in OB. Second best fish tacos in town. Depends on who you ask. 4) Gaglione Bros. Best cheesesteak on the west coast. Imported bread from Philly. Just delicious. 5) Dood's Foods. I saved the best for last. Dive bar type setting in Bankers Hill/Downtown area. Cheap and delicious burgers. Just phenomenal. Seriously, just look at this thing.
