Dad and I will be in San Diego from Wednesday, Feb. 11th through Sunday, Feb. 15th for the Wyoming and CSU games.
Hoping you guys can recommend some good spots to eat in downtown, Point Loma and Del Mar. We're not fancy eaters by any stretch and Dad doesn't eat 'much' red meat anymore so steak houses are out. Seafood, especially good fish tacos, and burgers are definitely in play.
Already planning on hitting up The Field Irish Pub, Hash House A Go Go and Hodad's.
Thanks in advance!

For seafood, if the weather is nice (j/k), do what we do on occassion - grab an effload of fish and chips at Anthony's Fish Ghetto near the maritime museum at the Embarcadero and go kick it in the sun with a pitcher of local microbrew.
In fact, if you want to do it right, go down there on the 11th and enjoy the above while watching the cruise ship put to sea, and then head to the Mesa for the game after rush hour. Bonus points: if you're staying anywhere near downtown, you can just the trolley to campus.
Re: fish tacs, Brigantine/Miguel's happy hour FTW.

Here's my top 5 for visitors... - Luche Libre Gourmet Tacos on Washington
- Las Cuatro Milpas for lunch, cash only spot in Barrio Logan. The line tells you how good it is.
- Point Loma Seafoods - For that "right off the boat" fresh fish experience
- Urban Solace in North Park, if you want a nice meal. True North is a great bar next door, they share a kitchen with Urban Solace, real deal food for a bar.
- C Level & Island Prime (same building, 2 ends of the same restaurant) for the best lunch + happy hour views on the freaking planet
I'd be happy to do lunch or dinner with you guys on 2/11 if you wanted. I bet we could probably get a little meet-up going. Adam

Yes. And if I can free up the time, I'd be down for a meet up for lunch or dinner as well...

I'm not sure I'd be recommending any place called Anthony's Fish "Ghetto"......It used to be called Anthony's Fish "Grotto", but apparently it's fallen on lean times and they were forced to change the name. Of course, it's been a long time since I've been in San Diego, so what do I know??

Lucha Libre is great for surf and turf tacos and they have great breakfast burritos. If going, call in advance and ask for the champion booth. It will be a special occasion and unforgettable experience.
Point Loma Seafood is great, but I have Blue Water Seafood ranked higher. It's about 1 block from Lucha Libre.
Extraordinary Desserts in Little Italy is a no brainier as one of the best dessert places in our region.
More recos coming soon...

On Saturday I would check out the farmers market in Little Italy (it's huge) lots of vendors selling just about anything the food is good and reasonably priced with lots of choices. Check out the Bocci ball and stick ball games...it's fun.

Can't believe there's been no mention of SD's best food: beer. Wait, did someone say beer?!

Rocky's Pub in Crown Point has one of the best burgers in town.
Pizza Port in Solana Beach (also OB and Carlsbad) has excellent pizza and their own beer.
On topic of beer, Stone in Escondido is a hike but Liberty Station is wonderful and if it's sunny, sit outside.
Ballast Point tasting room in Little Italy has solid bar food to go with their brews. If you like ipa's then Sculpin is one of the best out there.

Dad and I will be driving down to San Diego that morning/afternoon from his place in Palm Desert. I'd PM you now... but let's keep it public a little while longer to gauge interest from others who might be able to join.

Lots of great suggestions above. Another good Italian place in the Pt. Loma area that I'm familiar with is The Venetian (3663 Voltaire).
