Looking for a Aztec Friendly Sports Bar in TRUE North County or in Fallbrook,Oceanside,Vista,Carlsbad,Valley Center or San Marcos even Temecula(Temecula is too nice to be in Riverside County) Tired of being the only guy when we make big plays. I was driving to Hooleys in La Mesa where people at the bar get frustrated with all the Aztec fans ruining their quiet evening conversation. That's the fan following I want. Guys get excited about perpetual loser the SD Chargers so where is the following for the obviously dominant SDSU basketball team? Been going to The Draft in Oceanside but there is no one there. Devoid. Would love $3 dollar draft beers if they still exist

You might try the Lumberyard Tavern in Encinitas. Never went there for a game but they've hosted "Aztec Caravans" in the past.

I went to the SDSU - North Carolina game At Oharley's (In Poway)before we knew we ain't that good and there was one old guy at the bar who said he came for the game. And me. That's it and Oharley's is on THE AZTEC WEBSITE as an Aztec friendly place but I had to REMIND THEM THE GAME WAS ON!!! I am actually contemplating driving to Hooley's tonight in La Mesa just to see some Aztec fans!!! FROM FALLBROOK!!!

Well is there a true Aztec sports bar in Poway? Where? I mean where at least 1/4 of the customers are there for the Aztec game. I don't care if their happy hour is $7 drafts I will be there. Otherwise I am driving to Hooley's tonight since gas is cheap

Yet to my knowledge, the absence of a "true Aztec sports bar" means phuckall with regards to geography and has no bearing on the existence - or lack thereof - of some imaginary delineation between "true" north county and "false" north county. IMO, the best way to change the absence of NoCo Aztec bars would be to start mobbing in numbers to any sports bar that isn't already claimed by significant numbers of alumni from somewhere else and turn it into an Aztec bar.

That is all it will take. Do that on a regular basis and it will become a great Aztec game day bar. In addition, you'll make some bar owner extremely happy.

Poway = Kominsky's

I remember Fembone talking about a meet up at Kaminsky's for a game a few seasons back. Do you know if they regularly feature/promote games, or is it like AW1 suggests all other area sports bars are like, i.e., a generic crowd that happens to have a few Aztec fans on hand from time to time? Either way, I'd be down for said mobbing for a game sometime.

Get into it.

Boston's in Encinitas was good before it closed.

I live in Poway. Am I not in NoCo? I work in Poway, and, no - you're not in North County. Nothing wrong with that. Poway's a pretty nice place. When I think of North County I think of the area north of Lake Hodges... (And, on the coast, north of Solana Beach and the San Elijo Lagoon...)

When I think of North County I think of the area north of Lake Hodges... (And, on the coast, north of Solana Beach and the San Elijo Lagoon...) Tell that to the legion of commuters who pitch a tent on the 15 each day just to reach the exit before Lake Hodges. Having grown up in El Cajon and having spent my Drunken Twenties in La Mesa - i.e., for the 30 years before I moved up here - Poway sure as $#!+ always felt like North County to me. Not that I care either way... I just find the idea that one exit is North County while an adjacent exit is not to be arbitrary if not altogether absurd. And in the context of the OP ("'TRUE' North County"), it can be easily interpreted as yet another unnecessary and eftarded polarization (even if just inferred) of Aztec fans. IMO of course.

I have friends from the city that claim "north county" is anything north of the 5/805 merge. Being from "true" north county , it's Encinitas-north on the 5 and Lake Hodges on the 15 for me.

Graduated from Oceanside, Mira Costa, SDSU, UCLA and have been gone since '98. My brother left Fallbrook a few years ago for a better job in Ridgecrest so there are no more family ties in the area except in cemeteries. After all this time, reading these posts still make me homesick. Knowing I'll never return to SOCAL, it's just something I'll have to live with. I've always admired those with the true wanderlust. For me, I would have gladly stayed in my own backyard if life had been as good to me as it is now, so it's you guys I truly envy. That said, I'd still like to see the Chargers stay in San Diego. I'd hate to see the city lose yet another professional franchise.

Technically Via de la Valle is the dividing line between city/county.
