People that want to leave, fine, suit yourself, but it's know way to support your team. To the ones walking behind the backboard to leave during free throws in crunch time, you deserve to have your tickets stripped. Go around for fak's sake! So irritating.

People die for our country every day, so we have the right to leave a sporting event early....

I do believe behind the basket should be negated, but early leavers are at every school. If they were told they have to walk up to get out, would we notice?

Screaming, holding signs, waving things, and swaying big heads don't bother the free throw shooters. Nor do people walking behind the basket. Ask them. (And no, I'm not one of the people walking behind the basket.)

I don't care that they leave early. Wish they cared enough to stay, but it's their prerogative to do go whenever they like.
What I DO care about it is they are rude and/ or clueless enough to walk behind our basket in the closing minutes when our guys are shooting free throws.
I know this has been hashed-rehashed-re rehashed and beaten to death. I have never chimed in.
It's is my opinion that Viejas ushers should hold up people when FTs are being shot.
At giant games at ATT Park, ushers hold you back at each section entrance while a batter is up. When that batter reaches base or makes an out, you can return to your seat. They implemented it when they opened the park and it's a great policy. The fans have been trained to be courteous.
I am an A's fan and they don't do it there. So there, at warrior games, Cal FB games, I am forever missing key action as rude and clueless people squeeze in or out of aisles, making everybody stand up to let them in while you miss key action. It's mind boggling how much it happens over the course of every game and how much action you miss. Most the time, it's the same idiots in and out of their seats 10 times in one game- ALL during live action.
You're talking only the final few minutes of every home game you'd have to enact this. Ushers could hold up ropes on either end. If people waiting don't like it, direct them over and up another section. It's a bad look on TV, potentially distracting, and just plain rude to the people sitting low right behind the basket.
Easily solved using a modicum of common sense. Probably too much to ask or expect.

(And no, I'm not one of the people walking behind the basket.) It not just that they mess up shooter, they ruin the view of the people in the first few rows. Especially since these morons typically stop to watch if something exciting happens.

Probably too much to ask or expect. That idea, making the ushers and security hold ropes that keep people from walking behind the basket has already been tried years ago, it doesn't work. It causes a people jam and needless delays, and pisses a lot of people off. So if your going to shut off the flow of people behind the basket that the Aztec's are shooting at what about when the Aztec's are shooting at the other basket in the first half? There is a constant flow of cheerleaders, dance team, pep band members, security,The Show members in and out of their seats, half time preparations, etc, but no one says a thing about this. So first half free throw attempts are not as important as 2nd half attempts? I will agree with you about one thing and that is if your going to leave early, leave. Don't all of a sudden decide to stay and watch the game and block other people's view of the game. This is where the ushers and security can come in handy and keep the early birds moving and not congregate behind the basket, "Move along folks your blocking the view of the true fans who decided to stay, keep moving, this way out"!

There is no problem, therefore, no need for a solution.

they ruin the view of the people in the first few rows. This, AND ONLY THIS, is the reason I could get behind not letting them walk behind the basket. Every other reason is stupid.

Maybe start out with a statement on the big board from Coach Fisher . We hope you stay until the end of the game but if you need to leave early then please go out at the exits near the top of the arena .

I only started to thread so that I could include the deadspin article... If you leave early you're a douche, but at least no one has had a knife pulled on them for doing it?
Easy solution - take out the first row of seating and put up a guardrail.

We hope you stay until the end of the game but if you need to leave early then please go out at the exits near the top of the arena . Those people who walk behind the basket to leave early are parked in the building out the back door so it makes NO SENSE for them to crawl up the stairs just to get out of the arena. Believe me it's irritating as I sit in a low row near the basket in question.

We gotta implement hockey rules. No movement unless there's a stoppage in play...

Fresno game, about 4 minutes left, half the show had bailed. blue/gray hairs were just getting started. typical san diego audiences arrive late, clap between movements, give a standing O for an average performance, and leave early. check it out.
