And, some other wild cards here. Can't wait to see these guys in the spring. And, I have to note, another QB tryout? If anyone thinks Jake Rodrigues is the anointed one at QB, you are missing the message the Aztecs are sending.

Think it really helps getting the guys in early for Spring Ball . With the 8 additions is it known if some players are leaving the program , other then the former kicker who , did the kick offs then left the team , near the end of the year.

The starting quarterback job will have to be earned- whoever emerges as the starting quarterback should be ready to have a great year- I can hardly wait- of course- I am hoping that the DVC guy will win out- especially since I am his uncle!

That's a lot of kickers on the roster again this year.
I'd forgotten about UAB folding. Hopefully the young man can play!

Hey it is worth-it to check-out the HUDL videos of QB Adam Wood and WR Curtis Anderson. Wood is listed at 6-4, 215, and Anderson 6-3 190. Wood can throw the ball with accuracy and looks to have poise in the pocket, and Anderson can catch and block. Anderson looks smoother in his routes than Larry Clark...walkonfan...

I have watched all of Adam Wood's games on hudl over the years (I am a missionary in Central America so I have never seen him play live) - he is a shade under 6'4" in his socks- and he is a throwing athletic quarterback that can run when needed- but even when he is forced to scramble out of the pocket he is looking downfield and prioritizes throwing over running- he is a wide receivers dream!- he is also good at throwing to the 3rd or 4th options as he makes quick decisions. He was a starting linebacker and quarterback in high school- and he was a pretty good basketball player as well. He has not had any major injuries. He has 7 younger brothers who are all athletic as well- the second brother Ben (probably the best athlete of the bunch) is a senior at Las Lomas High school and prefers lighting it up on the basketball court to football- although he is quite the football player!
The other quarterbacks (from Oregon and Kentucky) are very good quarterbacks- but the others seem to have some negatives (granted I've seen limited videos of them)- the Kentucky guy can really throw but seems to be immobile in the pocket- probably the result of injuries, while the Oregon guy seems to be a big strong armed quarterback but injuries seem to have slowed him down somewhat as well. The only negative on Adam I can think of is that he started playing quarterback late- his all around athleticism put him at wide receiver and linebacker until during his Junior year when he started playing quarterback- My guess is that during spring ball Adam will just keep getting better- while the other guys have had more quarterback coaching throughout the years and they have probably already peaked- GRANTED I am not a football expert and I am heavily biased- but I think that if he gets the equal reps during Spring training that he was promised that he has a good chance of being number one or two.
Anyways- I can hardly wait until Spring training!

The link below has his stats for last year- 28 td 16 picks is correct- his team couldn't run very well (43rd in JC's California, 11th with the pass) which allowed the defenses to put extra guys in coverage or to blitz- which did lead to more more picks and sacks this past year-his 1st year at DVC he took over the starting job 5 games into the season, and he would take on defenders when he ran and wound up getting hurt and he did miss the last couple of games- but he started sliding after runs this past year and managed to stay healthy. Old Dominion did come in late last year (2014) during the Summer and offer him a scholarship (they apparently did not like their number 2 quarterback situation)- but he turned it down hoping to receive more offers this year. Right before deciding to walk on at San Diego State the new offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach at U of Kansas (he came from UC Berkeley) wanted to offer Adam Wood a scholarship to bring him in this year- but the head coach decided against it saying said he did not want to use the scholarship on a JV guy that could play now- his focus is currently rebuilding so that Kansas is a good team 3-4 years down the road. He is a tall, strong athletic guy that will continue to get better barring any serious injuries- and there are no character problems to be worried about with him www.cccaasports.org/sports/fball/2014-15/players/adamwoodoz36
