in Atlanta for the Falcons newstadium.atlantafalcons.com/Check this one out. I just received their glossy brochure and I'm impressed. This one will give Jerry World a run for the top stadium. $1.4 Billion to build. Seating for football 74,951 7500 Club Seats 193 Suites (Jerry World 350) Public/Private Funding to Build It's being built right next door to the Georgia Dome. The Georgia Dome and the Arena all surround the convention center and are used inconjuction to the Convention Center for various large events. San Diego will keep jerking around trying to decide what to do and we'll be without anything suitable for the Bolts. I doubt SDSU has the $$ to keep the Q, redone or otherwise. Raise the damn hotel/car rental taxes as they did in Arizona and make it happen. Build the GD thing.

And for the record, I don't see the degree of difficulty for any NFL team wanting a new stadium in San Antonio when/if the time comes to the extent of LA or San Diego. And though the citizens of these great communities may see that as a source of civic pride, the fact is LA WILL get an NFL team and if the Chargers move, well,....there's still the Aztecs.

You have no idea what you're talking about: It's California - we need 2/3 majority vote to raise taxes for a specific purpose. 1/3 of the Atlanta stadium is funded by public money (bond proceeds backed by a hotel tax). The Chargers are willing to pay ~$200 million, which would be less than 15% of a $1.4 billion stadium. The Chargers make ~$30 million in profit/year. They don't have enough skin in the game. I don't know if you're smart enough to understand any of this.

aerial shots make it look like a butthole. Which is fitting for what plays inside of it. Perhaps SD just doesn't care about football? Don't really care about the Chargers, don't really care about the 'Tecs.

Sterk was on the radio , said if he had the money and a choice he would prefer an 1.on campus facility 2.the Q area or 3. DT . It is a money issue . Has talked with all concerned . Also Aztecs do get to use the Q for 5 years if Chargers go .
He also said the B12 has not made any talk about expanding . He did let them know we were still wanting to be a part of the B12
On separate note , there has even been talk in Raider land that if the Rams and Chargers both went to LA . The Raiders may talk to San Diego Mayor about moving the team to San Diego .

wow, it's almost like I don't give a $#!+ what happens to the chargers' stadium problem provided it involves no public money and they pay for the land. We could even hang a banner saying, "This is the House that Free Enterprise Built." We could also get Enterprise rentals for the naming rights!
now, does anyone else think Winston looking pure as hell on his 2 triples last night is a sign that God is an SDSU fan?

My facts are facts. Go look at any of the unbiased articles on a new chargers stadium. They won't get it without a vote. You can't raise taxes without a vote. That is what you don't understand. Also, I don't think the Chargers leaving will help SDSU's fanbase. I have no idea where you gleaned that little nugget.

Just heard Sterk on 1090 this pm and he said going downtown would be the third choice for a location. He stressed the importance of students finding it easy to get to games. We've heard that before from him several times. On campus would have been first of course, but he laughed and said he wished they could have placed Viejas off center from old Aztec Bowl to make room, but he was joking. Added that they have a five year contract at the Q now and said it will all take care of itself.

Latest example the new gas tax um I mean carbon fee passed onto consumers.....

Wish I was as confident as him, if the Chargers leave then San Diego has no reason to keep Qualcomm Stadium going. Will be even more of a money pit. Contracts can always be broken.

Ha, you must not be a lawyer. There's a shred of truth to that statement in the abstract, but in this case SDSU can be very confident in having at least 4 years (if not the full 5) upon the Chargers providing notification of leaving where we can still use the Q. And in that time, we'll either take over the Q site and/or build our own stadium.

"State and city officials approved the new stadium in downtown Atlanta. Under the deal, the city is slated to contribute $200 million, which will come from the city’s hotel-motel tax. The other $800 million of the billion-dollar cost is going to be paid for by the Falcons. The Falcons will also contribute an additional $50 million in infrastructure costs."
If the Spanos Family said they would pay for 80% of the cost of a new stadium at the Q, pretty sure they voters would go along. But I think the ask is the other way around in SD.

Stayed about a block away from the new stadium this past weekend. Very convenient how all their stadiums/arenas are so close and the area's got a good vibe to it. Like San Diego, some blight just off the beaten path, but like with what Petco did, the proverbial high tide raises all boats. Despite the Falcons having a much worse season the the Chargers there was still a lot of talk and excitement among the locals.

They are replacing a 22-year old domed stadium with another domed stadium. It's only 22 f-ing years old. And now, the Braves are getting a new baseball park, replacing 18-year old Turner Field. Why? Is there money burning holes in pockets down south?

Atlanta is a truly global city and the financial, transportation and media hub for the entire Southeastern U.S. Over the past 30 years, it has morphed into essentially the New York City of the South. By comparison, Atlanta has 28 Fortune 1000 companies and 5 Fortune 100 companies -- among the greatest concentrations of corporate might of any city in the U.S. It's largest companies include such household names as Home Depot, UPS, Coca-Cola and Delta Airlines. San Diego has no Fortune 100 companies and 5 Fortune 1000 firms: Qualcomm, CareFusion, PriceSmart, Sempra Energy, and Leap Wireless. The big corporations drive much of the season ticket sales and luxury stadium box sales for these new billion-dollar sports edifices. That's why Atlanta has a shiny new stadium, and we don't.
