The Mod has decided the phonetic chute is better than the use of shot!

Honestly how does UNLV recruit these guys. It pizzess me off, Vaughn, McCaw, Woods are natural born shooters. You'd think we could at least get one. What could our coaching do with guys that could actually shoot. UNLV gets these guys and the team consistently under performs. We win because we have a deep bench, play our guts out and wear the other teams down. Just needed to sound off.

I think we already have a couple in Pope and Kell. Just need a little time to get accustomed to the speed of the game and not feel as though they need to rush their shot

Right after we recruit some fans who aren't delusional, sky-is-falling whiners. If you were an outsider and started reading the first few pages of the game thread, you'd think we were down by 200 points. In reality, we were down by 4.

Fisher recruits guys that can "score " not always shooters . Athletic guys that want to play D . that eliminates a lot of guys that put shooting as their most valuable asset . Rebels have great connections in AAU ball all the way to the East Coast . Only one guy calls Nevada their home, they also get the Findlay Prep guys and ,from all over . they have a former NBA player as coach .
Aztecs are bringing in Helmsley and BJ ,next year athletic guys that can score but not known for 3 point shooting . I think it will help Kell if he is plays SG rather then PG and Pope is given PT over a local HS guy who is supposed to be a three point shooter , but again not really his forte in HS , so he red shirted .
Bottom line we recruit athletic/scorers not shooters . But there should be the emphasis that you need to finish not just put up finesse shots.

You forget, the practice facility will make them better shooters. Every player will have an access card to the facility to work on their game, 24/7 if they wish. All these years they only had limited opportunities to practice on their own. Fisher said he wanted a facility the day he took the job.

We should buy all of our players an XboxOne with EA College Hoops 2015 so they can practice their shooting skills 24/7.
I think the shots will start to fall and at the right time. We'll be fine.

It is extremely hard to shoot threes when you play ballzout defense. Remember jimmer? He hardly played D. He just stood around when they were on D but he was fresh and ready when offense came around. Simple: If you don't play ballzout D for Fish you don't play. If you play bod you're to pooped to pop .

This is not a complant. Our defense keeps us in every game (even against Wash for a while). If we could just hit a few open threes... When we hit three in a row against Wyoming, they could not recover.

If this were true, we should be making 50% of our shots at the beginning of the game while our legs are still fresh and slowly fall off from there. Unfortunately the opposite is true where we've been averaging 25% of our shots in the first half, only to get better the second half.

I thinking about the three. Not sure about making threes in the second half..Seems like the points in the second halves are coming in the paint.

We are a team that does so much better when we attack the basket for our shots . Realize that and limit the threes . We also draw more fouls when we drive in for shots -we have the athletes and strong bench use them . Yesterday getting 4 fouls on their center really helped . as we got numerous close in shots after that . It would also help beating the zone if as the announcer said we would PASS quickly instead of dribbling around it . Also every player without the ball should keep moving to get open and make them chase us . You are correct other can stand around , since numerous times we also have our guys stand around or wait for a ball screen . Increase the tempo on offense the way we do on defense , use the bench and force them to do so also .

What if Vaughn choose us over UNLV. I know we didn't recruit him. Where would this team be with his firepower? We would be another beast and a sweet sixteen team now a finger and nail biter that we are.

I remember reading The Sports Illustrated Story about our own Kawhi Leonard. The story stated that due to the strike The Spurs only had a very short time that hey could communicate /work with Kawhi,it actually was a matter of hours. They lined him up with a shooting coach who in a couple of hours reworked Kawhi's shot. The rest was up to Kawhi who spent hundreds of hours practicing. The results have been excellent, the amazing thing is that the results were clearly evident as soon as the strike was over and the season began. It would be terrific ( if there is a way to do it without being an NCAA violation) if our big Donors could come up with the cash to fund a week working with our team. Our players are all fantastic athletes it may be that some shooting fine tuning would make a huge difference., with our D if we were even an average shooting team we would be virtually unbeatable.
