OL Jordan Murray (6'10, 351 lbs) of Coppell HS (6-5 record in 2014-15) in Coppell, TX Rivals Profile: sports.yahoo.com/sandiegostate/football/recruiting/player-Jordan-Murray-166396This may sound silly, but I'm curious as to whether a 6'10 offensive lineman has more of an advantage or disadvantage against an opposing pass rusher who is well shorter, a 6'2 or 6'3 linebacker, for example. The tallest defensive lineman is usually, what, 6'4 or 6'5? Murray would be great though on defense when the opponent attempts a field goal

We had a guy who was 6'10 come in a few years back. Think it was the Craft years. Don't think he ever saw the field

As long as you have good technique and pad positioning you should do well. Can he also walk on and play C for the bball team?

The offensive lineman referred above, from the Craft years, was Robert Nelson. He was a 2 sport "star" in high school, I think in Hawai'i, football and volleyball. As mentioned, he never really did anything during his AZTEC career.

Texas 6A. Pretty much the highest level of high school football in the country. At worst, he'll be a solid scout team player to prepare against teams with big lines.

How is does he have a commitment to SDSU and North Texas St on Rivals? However, his Twitter account does confirm he is coming to the Mesa.

Didn't do much except try to block field goals and was injury prone, arm. Oldie Out

Believe Nelson was from Arizona and he was also a highly acclaimed VB player.

the quite a few olineman over 6-7 some 6'8 plus. He may not be 6'10 more like 6'8.5- 6'9. I Saw a picture of him Ruben showed him next to Pierce Slater iwho s 6'7 and a half. Looked about two inches taller so I am going to guess 6'8.5 at the shortes to 6'9.5 But still huge

If he tends to raise up then it definitely could be a disadvantage; if he has good technique & can maintain a solid, low pad level then the opposite. In the end, it's more about technique than size, and size than height. If you have all 3 - bonus.
The best thing about height is it allows you to carry more weight without being fat/slow. I'll take 351 at 6'10 if in shape over 351 at 6'2 with a belly any day.

Believe size wise he would compare to Chargers LT King Dunlap 6'9" 330 . If nothing else DP could hide behind him until he makes his cut . Foot work is key
