I was really surprised when I received an email recently from the ticket office stating that i had not bought my bowl game tickets and i had purchased them before. I actually bought them through a friend who bought tickets through the Aztecs. That showed me they perhaps are not selling their allotment?

"only 30-35K" seriously?
How many are expected in Boise, Vegas etc?
35k would be a nice turnout.

That's good news. Solid overall sales, and good to see SDSU won't be taking any type of financial bath on tickets. I'd heard the other night we were 20-30% below sales from our last appearance, but doesn't sound that bad luckily.

Vegas Bowl attendance 33,067 Potato Bowl attendance. 18,223 New Orleans Bowl attendance. 34,014 New Mexico Bowl attendance. 28,725 Sam Boyd Stadium was a sea of red on Saturday. I'd venture to say that out of some 33,000 that attended, 25,000 were Ute fans. Utah always did travel well. CSU on the other could have simply mailed in their appearance, but the program obviously had other things on their mind. I planned on attending the game long before Utah was announced so it was a pleasant surprise to spend time with some of my Utah friends, (of course, in my SDSU Alumni gear). They were quite pleased as in their minds this represents a move in the right direction. More power to'em. I will not be at the game in San Diego and that's nothing to be proud of, but it will show, frankly, the level of interest and support the San Diego community will have for their local team in a bowl game on national television. As wonderful a city as San Diego is, (I can't afford it anymore, much more for my money in Utah and apparently given the number of California license plates in recent years, more are agreeing with me), I'd think the residents could enjoy this as just another pleasant evening out in America's Finest City and enjoy some football for no other reason then, it's there and they're lucky enough to live in San Diego.

I wonder how realistic it would be to have at least 7,000 walk-up fans tomorrow. Be nice to break the 40,000 attendance mark for the game

No way 7K I agree, you have to commit to go to a game in Qualcomm, whereas Petco you may go because you were having a beer at the Kilt next door and said "Why not?". But if this board is any indication of how many have jumped off the bus, 35k would be great IMO.

I haven't jumped off the bus - although it hasn't exactly been a fine-tuned machine the last couple years.

I talked to a member of the bowl commitee and they had expected 40K. May be hard to get the next invite.

The inaugural 2005 Poinsettia Bowl game matched Navy Midshipmen against the Colorado State Rams; Navy won 51–30. It had attendance of 36,842.[2]
The 2007 game matched the Utah Utes against the Navy Midshipmen; Utah won, 35–32. That year's attendance was 39,129.[2]
The 2010 game matched the San Diego State Aztecs against the Navy Midshipmen. San Diego State won 35–14. That year's attendance was 48,049.
2012: Though the attendance of 35,442 for the game wasn’t close to what the crowds were for the height of San Diego State’s rivalry with BYU, the Poinsettia’s executive director, Bruce Binkowski, said he was very pleased with the showing.

I think there will be 30,000 plus in the stands.
By the way, I wonder which AztecMesa regulars have been to the second most Aztec bowl games. The first, of course, is Tom Ables, who has been to every SDSU bowl in their history. (Thinking here of actual bowls.)
Anyway, Erik and I will be going to bowl #5 tomorrow night. We've been to the following so far . . .
1991: Freedom Bowl 1998: Las Vegas Bowl 2010: Poinsettia Bowl 2012: Poinsettia Bowl
I think the other official bowl games have been. . . .
1947: Harbor Bowl 1966: Camellia Bowl 1967: Camellia Bowl 1969: Pasadena Bowl 1986: Holiday Bowl 2011: New Orleans Bowl 2013: Potato Bowl
AzWm
PS: I'll bet I'm the only Aztec fan who ever attended a Junior Rosé Bowl game. 1965; Fullerton Junior College beat Henderson JC of Texas, 20-15!
