I think this is a good move. Statistically speaking, Polee may be pressing a bit instead of letting things come to him. If this helps him create energy off the bench and more efficiency, I'm all for it. Quinn replaces Polee as SDSU starter

I like the move, it gives us better ball handling in the back court. Hopefully this can bring the best out of Polee with him going back to his bench/Energy roll vs 2nd units

We are beating ourselves with all those turnovers. Explains why Coach has slowed the offense down. DP - stop fading away on your jump shots. Too much movement.

Whichever works. He's the coach. At this point, I don't see a clear starter. Just a bunch of talented players running in an offensive system with no identity.

We were playing better early in the year when Fisher was playing everyone, at least 10 and sometimes 11 guys. The makeup of this year team is different in that the strength of this team is the depth it has, with all this athletes and fresh bodies the team looked like a monster defensively. As Fisher has shortened the rotation we are pressing less and team does not look as dynamic as it had looked in Maui. One can only hope Fish gives an opportunity to deserving players Dakarai and stop ignoring Zabo and Pope altogether. There's really no reason to have the glue guy on the court 40 plus minutes when he has all these weapons available to him. None.

I do not agree with benching Polee in favor of Quinn!! This team just got smaller and slower. This move is a message Fisher is sending to his TEAM that no player's position is guaranteed! I believe the starting line-up is going change again and often based on Fisher's decision to bench a highly touted player with athleticism, height, speed and quickness in favor of a non- athletic, short and slow player who was a walk-on!
I do not know about Polee's ego and pride, but I would be pissed off if I got benched in favor of a walk-on!! Maybe Fisher believes that by benching Polee this might motivate him? I do not think so. This is his SENIOR SEASON and I believe his expectation this season was to be a starter and play starter's minutes. Or, maybe Fisher and his staff convinced him that since he was the MWC 6th Man last season, he can do it again this season!
WOW! What a turn of events and MWC League play is a few weeks away. I anticipate that some other starters may be headed to bench as well. Well, it is going to be interesting to watch the dynamics between Fisher, Polee and his teammates for the rest of the season. My heart goes out to Polee because it is not a good feeling to get benched for a player whom you believe is not your equal. Tough pill to swallow, but I guess Polee is going to have to "take one for the team!"

I just wish it would have been JJ instead of Polee. Oh well we cant sit Coach Fisher's second son. The real issue right now is turn overs and rebounding followed by shooting.

START Overmatched? START Broken hand? START 0 for 20 slump? START 5 start Pope healthy? Fisher don't care JJO 40+ min. Athletic beast threatening JJ min when available? Make sure to redshirt Z.

Fisher could start Shrigley instead of JJ and team would have more offensive power, athleticism, speed and quickness. Fisher TRUST Shrigley, but TRUST JJ more! Let's be clear and candid about JJ. JJ is a team player, does what Coaches expects for him to do and he is a clean-up player.
Basically, JJ does the little things, like getting a key offensive/ defensive rebound; making the extra pass and making a key basket during the course of the game, handles the ball to take pressure off guards and tries extremely hard to not make mistakes. But, why not let Shriley start and see if can help jump-start the offense.

This is great news!!! I have thought all along that AQ gives us the best chance to win. We will all see AQs impact and be very happy with the results. Who doesn't root for the underdog? Come on, a guy that walked on because he wanted to play at SDSU and turns into a scholarship player?? Please, this never happens and AQ should be commended and supported by everyone. Dude has pills the size of Texas.

Quinn looked like he was completely overmatched during the Cinci game. The Bearcat guards made him look like he didn't belong on the floor. Polee, on the the other hand, just had a bad game. He is clearly a better player and a disruptive force on defense. JJ does do the little things and belongs on the floor when the match-ups are favorable. Shrigs seems to have lost whatever mojo he had. When he comes into the game, the opposition immediately either starts catching up or pulling away. If anyone needs to find some way to step up his game, it's Shrigs.
I like how WS isn't even entering the conversation. Winston is becoming confident. He is doing more good when he's on the court than bad. WS is on the cusp of becoming the team leader -- you can just see it. I hope that continues along with his improving play.

Fisher on his radio show Thursday night said the PG position is still a position by committee , as predicted last spring by the UT , may take a few guys . The key thing in moving Polee back to sixth man is if the coach explained to Polee First before it hit the press why he was making the move . When you have 13 players ,you better be communicating with all of them on a personal level,or you could lose them. If it was to try to get DP back on his game and they needed another true guard in the line up . DP's stats were not where they need to be , he needs to be playing closer to the basket to use his athleticism to the max . Fisher also said on radio show the team took way too many threes , 5 for 25 and not enough went in . Coach also said he wants the ball to go inside more often and as Zeigler reported to use the "new box set " offense. Worked early in the CINCY game before , we started launching threes. MS is not the answer either . IMO the next three games is time to see what contribution the team may get from Zabo - a true PG and Pope a true scorer .

So, for the second season in a row we get to watch a guy with a taped-up hand start for the Aztecs. The anticipation is killing me.

Message sure seems to me that the coaches maybe saying, that it is important to take care of the basketball , need two guards in the game . Can not have 11 TO's in a half . Many of them in the back court , so no opportunity to get a shot . We play solid D , the other team needs to take a lot of time to try to crack our D . That means less possessions to score points so we better maximize those opportunities . We shot 53 % on 2 Point shots, some even on put backs, but only 20% on threes with a lot of good looks , but not many chances for offensive rebounds , fouls or most important points . So maybe time to get a lot more players involved in the offense closer to the basket . Polee 0 for 7 and Shrigley 1 for 5 on threes does not help the offense. We have a very athletic team , use those skills to the max , we do not have quality 3 point shooters so do not force it . Know what you do well and get the most points out of it you can . The move of AQ to PG also could free up Kell at SG his natural position, a scorer , Shepard to SF closer to the basket , for his lay ups and help with rebounding ,another area that needs help with the loss of Davis . Polee could still be the first guy in at SG or SF and get over 20 minutes a game . Chol come in at C , Zabo at PG , and Allen or Pope at the other wing or move Shepard to PF. PF is the area Fisher said is where the Aztecs are thinnest . I would prefer we try to push the ball up the floor, little more up tempo, use our speed on fast breaks and attacking the basket rather then the 3 .

But, why not let Shriley start and see if can help jump-start the offense. Uh, because Shrigs is 3-16 from behind the arc to start the season. He's been shooting HORRIBLY. Some guys just have slumps; Shrigs falls into a mine shaft. Last year, he went through an 0-16 streak. So, no, let's not switch out JJ with Shrigs.

I'm good with this move, Quinn is the only player with any confidence right now. I bet fish feels like if we can get off to a good start and get some early buckets it will set the tone for the rest of the game. Missed 3'a and turnovers don't do that, and that's been Polee's MO as of late.
