Am I the only one who questions why the heck he is the 1st or 2nd off the bench when he consistently gets beaten on the defensive end and keeps missing uncontested wide open 3s? He has shown absolutely no mid-range game, can't hit a 3 and doesn't defend. I believe Allen is much more deserving of the extra playing time as he is a great defender and attacks the rim while passing on ill advised long range shots.

Shrigley is a streaky shooter. But, not being able to play D should have kept him on the bench.

I agree completely. Allen played such a good game against LB and last night played, what, 2 to 3 minutes?? I don't understand. Also agree with those that said JJ and Kell should not have been bringing the ball up against the press. They both looked very slow.

He is a Fisher Favorite , has had an opportunity last year and this year . Time to give his minutes to Pope and Allen . MS is a Very streaky shooter at best ( do not know if he was a three point shooter in HS or just a scorer at LCC , the local hero),is a step slow on D ( both Allen and Pope are better on D , the boards and offense ,they can create shots )

Definitely not a Shrigs honk... But after weeks of screaming that our offense is lost and pushing for the need for someone who can actually knock down shots, you're now saying we need someone with more defense on the court? Which is it?
IMO, our issues come down to:
-No ball push up the court or creating open looks via attacking the defense. Trey looks so slow "initiating" the offense and often times takes too long to get the ball past half court; it was exposed when UC pressed us last night. -Rebounding, rebounding, rebounding and dare I say it---rebounding. We are too long and athletic to be giving up so many 2nd chance looks and *should* be better at attacking the glass on offense. -The team doesn't seem to have that killer instinct. Maybe that's just their demeanor, but I didn't see anyone look desperate to win that game with the exception of Winston at about the 2 minute mark left in the game. Our most vocal and fired up guy is in sweats sitting on the bench (Zylan)...

JJ had one defensive rebound in forty three minutes. One. Watch him play. For better or worse he is our power forward. On the defensive boards he plays like a guard who got caught covering a power forward on the switch. He puts a body on "his" guy and hopes that someone else takes action to go get the ball. That didn't seem like such a bad plan when Davis and Franklin were crashing the boards with abandon.

Zabo- a real PG and Pope- who can provide offense , defense and boards, both need more PT . Allen when we need lock down defender or a guy that slashes to the basket. Polee should ;play closer to the basket - use his jumping ability -to slam home alley oops and more , plus rebounds. Kell is not a PG , let him play SG . Realize we are not a good 3 point shooting team . We were effective last night and even BYU game , when we moved without the ball to get open and passed the ball . The slow down offense does not work this year or the basic 3 point shooters - i.e. Shrigley . Why recruit Pope and Zabo if you are not going to play them . Yes Pope was hurt but time to see what he can do now .

I have seen maybe one streak in the past 2 seasons and that was short-lived at that. Reality check for Shrigs, not as good as everyone thought. Doesn't mean he can't change things, but it's getting close. He really needs to knock down the long ball. If he does, he would have a ton more playtime and get seriously mad publicity. The media sees the Aztecs as a poor shooting team and if one guy could stand out he would be mentioned 20 times during a television broadcast as the only dependable scoring threat for the outside.

For MS its time to hit the shots or hit the bench. Give some other guy the chance that MS is blowing.

We have seen this before from Shrigley. He is extremely streaky. When he returns from a long layoff due to injury or just scheduling quirks it always seems to take him a few games to get his shot back. He can win you some games when he is on a hot streak, but can also cost you some games when he can't hit anything. Coaches may want to limit his minutes when he starts slow. Unlike normal shooters, he does not seem to ever be able to shoot his way out of it in a game. He has to make a couple early or he usually stays cold.

The rough thing with Shrigley is that while he's been off and on shooting, he hasn't been able to find other ways of helping the team and has been a liability on defense. I understand the coaches keeping him in, you need to spread the floor, but improvement is needed.

MS has had an opportunity last year and again this year . . Time to give them to Pope , who was brought in here to score . He can create a wide variety of shots and sure seems to be able to block shots , rebound and play D as well as MS . Move Kell to SG. We play so much better when we move with out the ball , make quick passes and attack the basket - we use our athleticism to our advantage . Is it that bad to realize it maybe time to limit the 3's and really work on offense rather then settle for a three . Polee is so athletic near the basket use that ability instead of him outside shooting . We also need the forwards near the basket for put backs . Time to spend more time creating plays on offense , then the ball screen . Offense does not just happen, same as defense , you really need to create opportunities to score.

If Shrigley isnt making shots. I'm not sure what he brings to the table, and Allen has been really good. Hopefully this is just a slump for Shrigley and he starts hitting shots.

I tell you what...Fisher shouldn't recruit the north coastal areas for the team's 3pt specialist ever again...need some El Cajon, Lakeside, Santee 3pt specialist whose parent's are on foodstamps...that way we know this guy his hungry to change his and his family's circumstance.

And "everyone" is doing the same thing with the next group of freshmen.
