Spencer looks like he has a bum shoulder, Quinn is still mending. Good luck! very observant. why do you say that? because you see something in the way he's moving his shoulder? does he look like he has a lack of strength? OH WAIT... it's because he's wearing a BIG FRIGGIN PAD on his shoulder. thank you, doctor.

I went into the season thinking we would sweep the MW. I still believe that can happen. Our conference is down this year. If we do take a loss, I pick away game at Colorado State. Well it's not happening. Let's be real, even last season with a Sweet 16 squad we couldn't do that. We will lose our fair share of games. I stand by my predictions - based on the poor anemic offense that we have, no go-to-guy, all the turnovers that we give away. All of this could change, let's hope so. Playing against cupcakes won't tell us much.

you guys still high on this team, just be realistic. Here is my prediction: Loss: @unlv @csu @wyo @bsu @unm home loss: CSU UNLV so 7 losses in conference but that is just my opinion given the way they played recently and cant shoot. All of those loses will just be that, shooting as other teams fare better and dont start the talk about defense, there are many NCAA teams with defense as good as us if not better. Cincy to me have better defense based on last night game and they pressed the way it was suppose to be (full court), I dont know their dept but they seem to rattled the aztecs all game. Any game the Aztecs play will not be a breeze as their shooting is far from decent, and knowing them - they will play down to level of competition as always because to them playing a weak team is not a challenge. I knew from the start when they were ranked to start the season, they were going to tanked given the players ive seen coming back. I just thought the incoming freshmen were the difference maker but havent seen it yet so the pre-season were just that, potential based on the freshmen. Anyhow, they will probably win more than they lose but dont expect this team to go far unless they get lucky such as verus Utah, BYU and Arizona in the tourney if they win the MWC tourney. Probably win more than they lose? That's pretty devastating if they were little mote than .500 - that's not even NIT caliber. Wow.

Hey we're still better than New Mexico. Sad when the best two teams in our conference are CSU and Wyoming which 99.99999999% of the country doesn't give a crap about. lots of the country cares about CSu due to the Ram's coach. That guy, as much as I dislike him, does an amazing job. They will always be tough as long as he stays there. BBall writers all know Larry E (or is it U?)

We will lose 6 or 7 we will not win the conference. This team is weak. No leadership. A bunch of good players that don't play as a team. This is a coaching issue. Because they don't run any sort of offense. No point guard thus no leader on the court. Showed again today. Kind of looks that way. The only leadership we'll see on this team is by example. This is what I think is one of the problems.
Shrigley/Polee = Rahon
I question whether those two guys have the mental makeup to overcome their lack of confidence, specifically on the road. If they don't snap out of their funk we'll lose a good share of goat games away. We were expecting Rahon to pull out of it when healthy, but he never did. OTOH if those two get it together the team will get its mojo back. It's almost like they never got over that Arizona loss.
Rahon played way better D than both of those guys.

Going into the season and as recently as coming off the heels of Maui, I thought we'd go either 16-2, or maybe 15-3 - at worst.
Now, seeing all the problems we have on O- poor outside shooting, poor FT shooting, cant finish inside consistently enough, offensive rebounding way worse than prior years and well into double digit turnovers most games (which we also haven't seen in recent years) - these are just way too many issues to overcome by playing great our D every game to grind out wins.
So now, as weak as the MWC appears to be, I could easily see us losing 6-7 conference games. If we do, that will be a shame, and I think opportunity lost.

I thought they would start out 10-3 and take a 25-6 record into tourney time... I'm sticking with that I was pretty close to this. Saw us beating Washington though. Had us 11-2. As of right now I'd say we end up in the 6-8 seed range.

I too thought 2-3 conference losses at most, but with a turnover prone, poor shooting offense and a defense that looks like it's beginning to leak on the perimeter, 5-6 losses is much easier to envision. This team doesn't seem to do anything crisply.

Come on people! This place depresses me so sometimes. We are 8-3. Even with poor play at times, nobody is blowing us out. I never like counting me chickens before they hatch. 5 new players who will get minutes, and all this will mesh in 11 games? We know our offensive woes from last year and now X and Josh are gone. I don't know how many wins we will have this year but will bet it will be a pretty good record! I think the team will only get better as the season goes along. If that is good enough to win the MWC, I do not know. All the Final Four and Elite 8 and Sweet 16 talk is premature. Freshmen take time, unless you are the Harrison twins, et al of their ilk. Expectations are like ********, everyone has one.

They may not do that well against quality teams, but their coach will get more out of them than most other coaches. Their football team had an odd season. 2 early wins over B5 teams, then oddly bad games down the line, ending with an old fashioned smack down from good Utah team. I wonder how many significant players they lost in those two wins?
