That thread was getting out of hand. AZ has nothing to gain and everything to lose by playing us. Just like we have elevated ourselves to where plahing USC doesnt help us much either. Same difference. AZ can come and take our best recruits anytime they want and we can't do crap about it ( chol, leaf, budinger, horne, walton, tony clark back in the day if I'm not mistaken.)
We need/hope to win tonight to breakthrough. We have advanced to the point where we aren't called a mid major anymore so now we fight the good fight to AZ's level. But to say AZ is afraid to play us is silly and why so many think we are a clueless fanbase. And stop with the "we can go undefeated if we win tonight" lol. Wyoming is tough to beat at home. And we have won by one basket the last couple years versus Boise.
Go Aztecs! Tonight is our best chance to win while AZ is still gelling together. Like us, they will be harder to beat later in the season.

They don't have much to lose, honestly, unless you/they believe an SDSU win would elevate our program substantially. It wouldn't, and they'll still be able to poach a lot of recruits. The dummies on that other board are claiming they don't want to play us because we could be a threat over the long term. "Afraid" may not be the right word - bi*ch a*sness is more like it. Thanks to Sean Miller and the actual team for manning up and giving us a shot... The fans that are arrogant can go eat some curb and hopefully swerve off the 8 West next time I speed around one of them for not knowing how to drive.

I agree. We have some who act like the fans of the schools we hate. I personally like our games against AZ and have had nothing but good interactions with their fans.
I'd LOVE to win tonight. And I think we will. But if not, I look forward to a continued home/home series.

Arizona fans want their program to be a national powerhouse instead of just a west coast powerhouse. How can they expect to compete and win recruiting battles against the Kansas, Kentucky, Duke type teams when they're scared of their "little brother" in the west? Also not sure how you can claim to be the best in the west if you're afraid to face the top competition in the west.
While beating Arizona is nice and all, SDSU needs to perform better in the tourny (and really so does Arizona) if they expect their program to get better recognition.

Arizona can take our best recruits whenever they want? Really? Ask Trey Kell about that.
They have a lot to gain by winning tonight. It really helps their RPI. And it really fends off a guy named Hutson who recruits against them.
Don't be silly. They would rather be playing anyone else in our bracket than us. And Fisher et al does just fine recruiting against them. I'll take the Pope and Zylan any day. We just have to step up and take one of these games now than Nick "Aztec Killer" Johnson is gone.

Believe Kell knew with Stanley Johnson and the PG they signed heading to Arizona he had little chance of playing there . then Vandy signed two guards, plus Gonzaga added guards, so he chose SDSU . Arizona already has one of the best recruiting classes for 2015 in the country , plus the transfer Anderson , so they are going to reload again if 1-4 players go to the NBA .

Nick was our dragon slayer. I believe we can beat AZ without him.

Can't argue with that Stan but we aren't doing that bad ourselves.

The K state that Arizona beat looks like $#!+ against the Pitts that we beat yesterday.

We will help Arizona with their RPI. Who else in pax 12 is ranked. UCLA lost. Utah no longer ranked.

I find it EXTREMELY hard to believe they have NOTHING to gain by beating us, a top 15 ranked team. Who would they benefit from beating? Only #2 Wisconsin or #1 Kentucky? By your example Washington and Cincy shouldn't be on our schedule since we get nothing from beating those two as they are not ranked. Hell why play USD every year? Just win, play against the best teams that you can schedule, and keep winning. Until we at least reach the Final Four, we're always hear crap from other programs. But to say AZ has nothing to gain? Balderdash.

Arizona is not afraid. Neither team is afraid. A win will provide an early lock on a number 1 seed for either team and a loss by either team will not be detrimental. Arizona actually enjoys the game. You know Aztecs do. has

Face it Miller & Az. are one of the few schools in the P5 with the cajones to play SDSU!

Arizona is the ONLY Pac12 school that will consistently schedule home-and-homes with us is men's hoops.
Agree 1,000% with aztecttcas. Some of our fans really need to stop being such whiny douchebags with a Napoleon complex.
