That our boys were sand bagging offensively for the first few games this year. I know that it really would serve no purpose to do that. But, there is more to this improvement than freshman getting comfortable, the team starting to gel, or good shots going in that previously were not. This offense is featuring constant movement of both ball and player. The selflessness that I have seen this team display in the last two games has been a revelation. Everyone is working together to get the team a good shot. I have seen some really good team basketball. I hope that they keep this style of play going as we will only improve as our team gels, we get players healthy, and our youngsters develop.

I may be wrong so flame away if I am, but I feel like our team frequently "plays down" to lesser opponents and "plays up" to really good teams. When they play down I always feel like they are a cat playing with a mouse they caught. Eventually they'll go in for the kill.

You don't sandbag on a ranked Pac-12 school. They were just not hitting shots.

I think they are just starting to gel and, like coach said, the defense was ahead of the offense.
A long roadie like the trip to Maui does amazing things for teams coming together. I don't know if we have enough to beat Arizona tonight. But I think we are looking pretty good and Arizona was looking beatable last night against a not great K-State. Tonight will be about legs... both teams are likely going to be gassed.

This is a completely new team. X Thames was the entire offense last season. Either he shot, or the offense ran thru him. Just takes some time for this group of players to learn each other in real live game mode. Plus add in freshman who never played a D1 level game and there you go.
Of course playing on national tv adds a TON to the aggressiveness and mindset to play big.

I am just going to ask one question of you guttersipe. Have you ever played basketball in a competitive league? If, you have then you would never ask, or assume anything like that.

Hyperbole, brother. I know logically that they were not sand bagging. There has been a sharp contrast to the teams approach on offense. The improvement has been amazing and is much more than "making more shots." The way that the shots are being created has jumped up to a much higher level.

It would be nice to have an Ace up our sleeves but I think our boys left everything on the floor the past few games.
Oldie Out
